Nominee for judge a tad underdone

I guess the the nominees for judges are not always top flight lawyers, but this one is a tad on the underdone side.

Fox News: Lawyer who struggled at hearing to become judge goes viral

A lawyer nominated by President Donald Trump to be a federal judge has become an internet sensation after having difficulty answering basic legal questions.

Petersen, who serves on the Federal Election Commission, had difficulty answering questions about the “Daubert standard,” which has to do with expert witness testimony, and the definition of a “motion in limine,” which has to do with the introduction of evidence. He acknowledged he has never tried a case or argued a motion in court. He said he last read the federal rules of evidence in law school.

It’s probably superfluous to say that Paula Bennett did NOT say that, but I will, anyway. I don’t know if Blazer really believes this or hopes that other people will.

The lawyer may have had one of those embarrassing mindblanks that everyone has at some time; being on camera would make it 100x worse. It is unlikely that a lawyer really would know nothing of the law !

Jane Patterson…’Bennett was asked by Patterson if she had any experience in the area of climate change and she said “no, none at all”.

As to her qualifications she has a degree in Social Policy from Albany University. She has worked as a receptionist, an electorate secretary, and a middle management recruitment consultant before becoming a Member of Parliament.’

That is not at all the same as saying that she knew nothing about it. One doesn’t need to have worked with something to know about it.

It was a complete misquotation of her actual words.

well on that basis she could make a surgeon ..then.She can operate on you…not me…thanks.

Hardly. She was not being appointed to a surgeon’s position, that is a specious argument. Do you expect a Minister of Health to be a doctor, a Minister of Housing to be a builder or a Minister of Agriculture to be a farmer ?

I don’t suppose that the Minister of Transport has made roads or driven a train or logging truck.

If it’s Fox News reporting it, it’s bad! Tillerson’s right. Trump’s a moron.
WTF has this got to do with Paula Bennet or Climate Change?
