Holiday fare on Your NZ

The start of my holiday (from my day job) has started very well, with a great summer feel to the weekend so far. Knowing Dunedin weather well it is certain to be ‘variable’.

I’ll keep things ticking over here as much as I can but am likely to take it easy, as I’m sure a number of regulars here will. I will have family visiting from overseas over the next month and will want to make the most of that.

News and events will take care of some posts.

Jacinda Ardern has suggested “enjoy a politics free holiday!” but I am usually not inclined to be dictated to by politicians. There will be less politics as MPs and journalists take a break but I won’t guarantee none.

I’ll take things as they come, as usual, but otherwise I have no idea what to cover here. Any ideas?

Guest posts welcome if you feel like writing something.

    “Jacinda Ardern has suggested…”
“I am usually not inclined to be dictated to by politicians”
    Not “dictated”, Pete, suggested.

I think we all know when a PM “suggests” it is not like a suggestion from your younger brother, more like one from your mother.
On Twitter yesterday there was a bingo card for Xmas day that “suggested” that any criticism of Labour was a no, no.
I suggest Miss Ardern’s ruling is along similar lines, no criticism of the 100 days Great Leap Forward will be allowed.
I am spending the day amongst Taranaki rurals and bankers, who make me look like a weak knee lefty, doubt if the subject will be broached. Drought and house prices rule up here.

I don’t know what happened to your post and my reply about what good news it was that it was raining down there, I hope that it’s still going. We have had about half a teaspoon of rain today.

Do you have a tea spoon, set, bowl-up, as a measure?

It’s a figure of speech, not meant to be taken literally.

I promise to ‘behave’ Pete. And if I have time, I’ll write another ‘guest post’.

I have plenty of ‘ammunition’, but family comes first. Christmas, and then a funeral. A really big one, for someone who made a real difference to many lives, one of which was my own. She would be completely disgusted about the fuss we were making about her death. Which is what I liked about her.

I opined to my cuz yesterday, that her mother would be slapping me on the back of my head for being a ‘crybaby’ at her funeral. She replied that her mum wouldn’t waste her effort slapping any of us, when she can just laugh from above, at all the fucking crybabies.
