I am just reviewing posts for my YNZ Poster of 2017.I have a short list, from the right…HFD,PDB,and Missy ,from the left Mefrostate,Duperez and Patzacuro.Had a hard job categorising Gezza,PG and Lurcher who seemed capable of arguing either side .Newcomer the Riverton Grey Warbler wasn’t here long enough to be considered and the same applied to PartisanZ.I’m looking at content, and evidence based discussions in the final analysis, and have to admit to a bias.My decision will be announced…shortly.

Quite surprised that Corky missed the cut, tbh.

      • When blazer hates he hates. It’s all very black and white in his world. Ad hominem

There’s method to his madness if you think about it. To add more right wingers he needs to find the same number of lefties capable of stringing a coherent arguement together. In this hes clearly failed. I was a little hurt initially to find I wasn’t on the swingers list but as I say he’s limited it to three only from each group

Gotta hand it to Blazer tho. Clever how he’s just posted a teaser, building up anticipation. Marketing 101. 👍🏼

You & me both C 😦 As for PZ not being here long enough, I guess that Blazer means he hasn’t been back for long.

Speaking of stringing a coherent argument together:

            S100.000.000 million

“My number is zero until will have a workable immigration and refugee plan”

“Your comments are also open end and can be interpreted in different ways”

“Joe Bloggs” can string some pretty good Leftisms together IMO.

Freudian slip..wink. You didn’t mention Alan Wilkinson.. He’s done you no harm, Blazer. How could he? Put him on your list.

I’m looking at content, and evidence based discussions in the final analysis, and have to admit to a bias.

Or perhaps being a judge with the least possible connection to the supposed criteria.

No, I don’t like it at all. I upticked to neutralise the PD-er, Blazer.

Sssshhh…the PDT doesn’t want anyone to let on that we know their identity.

You missed Mr Man on YNZ who was so argumentative (to give it a polite name) that he spent ages arguing that peas were not vegetables, they were legumes.

I don’t mind it Trav, in small doses. Here’s one for you 🙂

        • Sort of Lounge/House. I love so many genres deoending on the mood I guess. Just not into heavy metal, and the relentlessly monotonous. Oh and I absolutely detest MEAT LOAF. Bat out of Hrll send me for an off button, anytime, anywhere.

I’m a big Tarantino fan and love Chuck Berry. Here’s that twist comp with Uma and Travolta.

Been a while since I saw Pulp Fiction. ‘Fear & loathing in Las Vegas’, is one of my personal favs, along with it’s ‘sequel’, ‘The rum diaries’. A shame I can’t find the full clip, it gets much funnier 😀

            • Hunter. The end of the idealisation of the sixties. Showed the reality of drug addled and dispensed with the Itchy Coo Park, If you’re going to San Fransisco depiction of that culture.

              I struggled with the book.

A fantail is flitting to and fro across the window. How sweet. The cicadas are cicading like mad around here and various butter- and dragonflies are flying.

    • patupaiarehe

       /  December 29, 2017

Not trying to alarm you Kitty, but the ‘early settlers’ consider a fantail in te whare to be a very bad omen. One attempting to get inside isn’t much better…

      • Kitty Catkin

         /  December 30, 2017

It wasn’t trying to get in, but it could have as all the windows and the door were open….I have had them come in before. I know that they are supposed to foretell a death, but I think that they are doing it kindly-breaking the news as best they can in their birdy way. A single magpie is very bad luck and enjoys being it (one can neutralise it by spitting and saying ‘Good morning. Mr Magpie.’ or ‘Good morning Mr Magpie, how’s your wife and lovely children ?’ Note wording; ‘how’s,’ not ‘how are’). Being Irish, I have heard ‘the knock’ a few times. It sounds as if someone has knocked loudly at the door, but nobody’s there. That means a death is imminent.

           /  December 30, 2017

Well there you go Kitty. It could have got in if it wanted to, but just chose to ‘flit about’ outside. Your number obviously isn’t up yet, & it’s great to know that you will be about for a bit longer, to help me irritate those who deserve it…

I read of one who flew in, neatly removed a cloud of flies and went out. Mission accomplished.

Check out this beast G. To give you some perspective, it is as big in diameter as my upper arm, & over a metre long.

You wouldn’t even consider it, if you knew what was upstream 😀

        • You think a taniwha would take me on?

             /  December 29, 2017

No Trav, but I suspect that the oil leaching into the stream from the car wreckers, might make te tuna a little less tasty 😉

If it’s a metre long or more & as rotund as you say she’s much more likely to be female patu.

               /  December 29, 2017

I’ll take your word for it G. Seeing her makes me think twice about swimming in the river downstream 😀

           /  December 29, 2017

Looks a beauty. What’s her name?

Ella was about four feet long & as round as a golden syrup tin before she moseyed on out. Elvira’s about 3 foot 6, but getting bigger. Only her & Granville at my eel spot tonite. He’s a tiddler.

             /  December 29, 2017

I call him ‘Taniwha’. He is definitely the ‘Alpha male’ of the creek. If you watch the opposite bank, you can see one of his slimmer siblings, who is just as long.

Oops, I posted in the wrong place above. The vid clips make the page slow to open & crash on the iPad.

Elvira’s quite tame. I have to throw a piece of meat right across the stream to land upstream a bit by her stump to get her attention, but then I can call her & she ripples over up to a spot just below me, & knows where I’m going to drop the rest of the meat chunks. So she just waits & takes them all one by one. Then she does a few circuits coming back to see if there are any more & if not wriggles back into one of the holes under her stump roots. She always looks at me. Fascinating experience. They have blue eyes.

I brought this ‘beast’ out of hiding in a similar way G (along with several of her mates). There were half a dozen leftover sausages, from last weeks BBQ, that some numpty had left in the fridge, uncovered. So I started pulling them apart, & chucking them upstream in the creek. Took less than 30 seconds for the eels to emerge from their hiding places…

Elvira, evening of 17 December. This is the rock she knows to come up to for a feed.

I sometimes get into the water and clean civilisation’s rubbish out of the stream. It’s been raining heavily lately and the increased flow has brought down a sheet of old corrugated iron a few feet from here that I’ll have to pull out, I noticed tonite. But this girl’s big enuf that I don’t hang around in the water over by her stump. She probably wouldn’t have a go at me but I’d rather not find out I’m wrong about that.

            • Gezza

               /  December 30, 2017

I have the same experience if I put a lot of meat into the wai, or if I empty the contents of a bloody bag into it. The most eels I’ve had here at one time is six. But there are four recogniseable regulars who often turn up within seconds so I’m guessing they have regular pozzies nearby.

Granville’s a shortfin, & he’s a different colour from the others, he’s olive green, a sleek fella about 2 feet long. He’s seems to have a hidey spot underneath an overhang not far downstream.

Sometimes they’ll have a scrap, but any that are smaller than Elvira scarper pretty quickly.
