  1. Joss has the most splendid voice. Every note cuts to your core.

    • This song has a very strong significance for me I have to say Blazer. It’s a long and very romantic story actually……so good choice

I have a single record of that ! I love records-they have something that CDs can’t copy, brilliant as CDs are as an invention. Old ones have those little sounds that are part of their history.

That skirt couldn’t be any shorter or it would be a blouse.

When they were that short, a schoolfriend’s parents were startled to see a girl in London who was wearing one bending down to do her shoe up or something like that…she had nothing under it. Her boyfiend hastily stepped behind her to stop the whole street seeing the sight.

A boyfiend seems right for her.

For the whole street to see the sight, wouldn’t she have had to repeat the performance at regularly spaced intervals & distances on both sides of the road? 😳

Well, yes, but you know what I mean. She could well have done, not knowing that she was putting on a free show.

His album “Voice” is all instrumental covers of popular songs. I burned a copy for a young relative who was suffering from “night terrors”; putting the album on at bedtime did the trick nicely. I’m also a fan of early Journey, before they morphed into a pop/rock band:

my fave song with Steve Perry singing, mind you I rather like Arnel’s version
Neal’s olo is epic in my book.

Yes, hard to go past that one. This is the one that stuck in my head for some reason.

A pooklet has been born. First seen this morning. Only the one. 🙁 Just below the BSblockwall directly over my fence. About the size of a dunnock (hedge-sparrow). Not very fluffy yet.

3 pukekos are looking after it. Bluey, another younger pukeko, Aspen, and another very young one, Sweetie, who’s probably about a year old or less, tail feathers haven’t fully grown yet, who’s also a recent arrival on the scene.

Bluey became extremely protective of the nest before the chick was born – aggressively so. I got very close to it a few days ago, thinking maybe it was a sick bird, & he suddenly burst out of it & flew at me. Now if I even go thru my gate onto the stream bank – he comes up to about 3 metres away, shrieks, adopts an agressive stare & gets ready to have a go. He won’t back down either unless I back away.

Haven’t been able to go & feed Elvira & the other eels. I was even trying to film the chick from over the fence this morning & he came up & gave me that hostile stare, so I told him off with a wagging finger and a firm, disapproving “heeeyyy – stop that”. He dropped his head, looked away & backed down, but only because I’m in MY territory & I fed him earlier – but I will still need to be very careful of him, I think. I reckon he will eventually attack if he thinks the chick’s threatened or if I watch them too often & too closely.

The other two pookies are quite relaxed about me just quietly watching them fussing over & feeding the chick. They all keep her pretty well hidden in the crocosmia. She’s so tiny she just stumbles about in the bushes. There was a lot of activity around the nest yesterday, all the pookies were taking stuff to the one on the nest all day, & making soft whimpering noises when they got there, so I think the chick probably hatched yesterday. It’s not even “cheeping” yet, although the adults might be discouraging that.

Looks like only one chick’s been born, because this morning I could see the nest at times. That’s the first time in weeks that it’s been clearly visible from my place. The rest of the time there was always a pukeko sitting on it, the three of them taking turns in shifts.

The pooklet’s name is Pickles. Keeping my fingers crossed they can raise this one to a teenager. None of the 4 others hatched this season have survived. When she gets a little bigger in a couple of days I think maybe they’ll move her away from my fascinated but prying eyes.

Have you read a wonderful book by William Duncton called ‘Callanish’ ? It’s based upon the real life escape of a golden eagle, imaginatively named Goldie, who escaped from London Zoo.

I heard a bellbird today on the walkway and finally saw it. And I have seen and heard ‘my’ one again-it seems to be living here. (faints) I see it picking something off the branches, but have no idea what.

You have a pooklet ? I am not green, it’s a reflection from, er, the trees outside.

I hope that Pickles poos on the PDT’s head when he/she grows up.

Judging by the downtick on my comment, it’s possible that one already did? 😕

            Give Pickles PDT-identifying lessons.

And lessons on how to poo on cue.
