Mike Hosking has just finished today’s rant and NewZealanders are scum, total scum as we object to having large tracts of NZ bought up by overseas buyers. This”past his use by” voice jock says we should be grateful that these aliens want to buy our country up.I wonder what interest group is paying for todays rant???? an asian assn i suppose slipping NZME some cash to change New Zealanders minds

The other possibility is that Mikey is just a right wing wanker?

    • Corky

       /  February 2, 2018

I don’t think you need to worry too much, Lurchy, Mikey was preaching to the converted. The people whose minds need changing are all listening to someone speaking Maori on National Socialist Radio. Besides, Mikey needs a little of the green stuff passed under the table. Have you seen the price of a new Porsche Turbo?

The Right-Wing [or self-proclaimed Centre-Right] are clearly divided about foreign sales & immigration themselves, as the opinions of sorethumb, Corky, Conspiratoor, Alan, dave1924 et al evidence here on YNZ …

I reckon, if you want the mulah … you accept the Asian and the Allah …

I don’t believe the two are mutually dependent. That’s the ideology of ‘globalisation’ which, to its faithful followers, can only be ‘good’ …

        • Corky

           /  February 2, 2018

No Allah. Asians and Indians, yes. But our culture comes first, second and third.

             /  February 2, 2018

Which culture is that Corky? Which is the one you call “our culture”? That’s the ‘one’ Don Brash and Co refer to, eh? That’s the one you’re okay with selling …?

To exaggerate for effect: One might also say our first culture comes third, our second culture first and our third cultures second …?

            • Corky

               /  February 2, 2018

Your answer is disingenuous. You know darn well what culture I’m talking of. Your ideological declinations are rather obvious.

Oh dear partisanz, you continue to conflate independent thought with right wing. Keep banging the drum old son …and don’t forget to throw in the big bogey of neo liberalism from time to time. As labels go it’s a real showstopper

And please don’t stop ‘exaggerating for effect’. After a day at the coal face a man needs some entertainment.

Wow, this is so cool. Hollywood is in terminal decline. Liberal commentators are losing
their audiences. America is bored with these liberal prats, even if they aren’t Trumpy supporters. I had no idea things were so bad.

       /  February 2, 2018

Well, it’s Paul Joseph Watson, on Infowars. He’s not a bit of a far right winger. He’s got a point about Hollywood award shows though. I don’t watch them. They’re too politically left wing. The music ones have a lot of crap music & the movie ones have a lot crap speeches. Hollywod Moviemakers have definitely out of ideas. Do you think the D in that HOLLYWOOD sign is a bit too far away from the O?

      • I’ve only ever heard him talk sense on Hollywood’s celebrity liberals

      • High Flying Duck

         /  February 2, 2018

On your main point there Gezza – it’s an optical distortion due to the fact the D is forward from the O and so looks further apart on the angle of the photo.

From ther other angle it looks too close…

    From Spiked on line

Witness writer Sally Howard patronisingly explaining to two darts girls on ITV’s This Morning why it is a good thing they have lost their jobs. She told the women that their jobs were ‘demeaning broadly to women’ and suggested their newfound unemployment is ‘necessary’ for social change. She even had the cheek to say: ‘I don’t, as a feminist, want to undermine your earning capacity, but obviously there are other modelling routes…’. To which one model replied, ‘Yes, we do those as well’.

All credit to the walk-on girls, Charlotte Wood and Daniella Allfree. They remained composed and polite throughout, explaining that they have never felt demeaned or objectified, are proud of the work they have done, and actually have a large female fanbase as well as a male one.

The same has happened to the F1 grid girl who also performed an important role as well as looking good.
One thing that is becoming apparent, is that women are suffering the consequences of equality & gender typing more than men are.
      Unintended consequences…

it appears hetero right wing males are just as shallow as..hetero .left wing males.

        • High Flying Duck

           /  February 2, 2018

Is it shallow to acknowledge beauty?

There is a tension between the ideals of equality and feminism and the cold fact that people like looking at beautiful things – especially beautiful people.

In the example above Sally allows that there are “other modelling routes” but how are they any less demeaning to her world view?

Grabbing, catcalling and inappropriate language should be called out though.

Beer does bring much beauty into the world.

True.I hate saying this again, But I will. Far too many feminists seem to be plain Janes few men will look at.

The fact is when it comes to the crunch, human nature trumps ideals and feminism…especially in affairs of the bedroom.

What really maddens me is the statement about how (whatever) portrays women. This reduces women to objects or idiots. How stupid do the women who say this think that their ‘sisters’ are ?

The patronising attitude of women towards women is worse than anything shown by men-and mote annoying.

I would never be anyone’s first choice for a Grid Girl or anything similar, but if I was, it would be my choice and my business as an intelligent adult-something that the antis don’t give these girls credit for being.

The men who advertise undies are, one assumes, more intelligent than their female equvalents and are capable of seeing that they are being exploited and used as sex objects !!!

When feminists marched through Soho to ‘reclaim it’, one academic was most annoyed, according to a stripper, to find that the stripper earned more than the academic who was protesting against the strippers being exploited ! How galling.(sniggers)

And how many people protected by guns? You know, like our dairy owners.

      • Kitty Catkin

         /  February 2, 2018

        13. There’s another one on the news.

What on earth do dairy owners in NZ have to do with school shootings on the other side of the world ?

        • Corky

           /  February 2, 2018

The emphasis on reporting: guns deaths v gun saves.

          • Kitty Catkin

             /  February 2, 2018

We are talking about US school shootings, so your comments are completely irrelevant.

One boy was shot in the lead and a girl in the wrist as well as three others with minor injuries.

            • Kitty Catkin

               /  February 2, 2018

Being shot in the wrist would be agony and will take a long time to heal.

            • Corky

               /  February 2, 2018

Geez, let me spell it out. I forgot you are a literalist. I was being sarcastic. People who use a gun successfully for self protect rarely get a mention unless they empty a whole magazine into some black dude.
Incidents like you speak of are always reported. As an aside, suicide by gun are also included in gun deaths which further inflates the gun death stats.

The reference to dairy owners was just a jibe at the probable death of a dairy/small business owner this year who may have survived if he had a gun.

               /  February 2, 2018

So, what are you arguing Corks? That it would’ve been better if some other kid had a gun & shot her?

            • Kitty Catkin

               /  February 3, 2018

              Probably, Gezza !

            • Kitty Catkin

               /  February 3, 2018

I am not at a literalist, and won’t be no matter how often you witlessly repeat this nonsensical remark,. but as we were talking about a school shooting in the US, there was little point in dragging in-again-an incident in NZ which has no relevance at all. Even if the NZ shopkeeper had had an Armalite automatic and a cannon and a box of grenades,, it wouldn’t have stopped the US school shootings.

I don’t see killings as a target for jibes-there’s nothing funny about them and most people don’t jeer at murders (which is what jibe means).

            • Kitty Catkin

               /  February 3, 2018

The problem with that video is that none of the incidents are school shootings.

    • Pretty brutal, yet accurate assessment

      • Kitty Catkin

         /  February 2, 2018

Q2. Do you reckon anyone will throw one at Jacinda???
No. They’ve probably worked out they need batteries now.

At least he’s not sitting on his arse. He might need to have a word with Winston about not making things difficult for him by saying stupid things at Question Time like under this government the police won’t be issuing any more warnings & will be charging young offenders.
