Comments worth more exposure may be repeated as posts.Comments from other forums can be repeated here, cut and paste is fine.

Your NZ is a mostly political and social issues blog but not limited to that, and views from anywhere on the political spectrum are welcome. Some ground rules:

  • If possible support arguments, news, points or opinions with links to sources and facts.
  • Please don’t post anything illegal, potentially defamatory or abusive.

FIRST TIME COMMENTERS: Due to abuse by a few first comments under any ID will park in moderation until released (as soon as possible but it can sometimes take a while).

Sometimes comments will go into moderation or spam automatically due to mistyped ID, too many links (>4), or trigger text or other at risk criteria.

Free speech is an important principle here but some people who might pose a risk to the site will have to keep going through moderation due to abuses by a small number of malicious people.

Has some trouble with this one. I didn’t know whether to be annoyed with this lady, or to have respect for her. One things for sure, I had no respect for the clowns who clapped uproariously while trying not to think…..there but for the grace of God.

There, but for the grace if God, go I. What a misuse of this often misused quotation.

So it’s God’s doing that some people are fat (those who haven’t been favoured by Him) and others (who have) are not ?

And don’t start sniggering about literalism, as it’s hard to see what else you could mean.

Please go away. You are a pedantic bore. Find a site that caters for people interested in writing and expressing formal English literature.

How Corky does hate to have his ignorance shown up, not that it really needs anyone else to do this.

What on earth did you mean, then ?

And how did you know what the other people were thinking ?

I agree. Everyone realises my ignorance. So there’s no need to waste your time on me.

“Commuters have been warned Auckland’s gridlock nightmare is set to dramatically escalate, and the thorny issues of congestion charges is back on the agenda as Auckland Council grapples with solutions.”

Over recent years it has been said that while holdups due to road works were unfortunate, in the long run they’d lead to easier moving around. I have said that the ‘improvements’ are unlikely to cope with the present traffic let alone future growth of the region. A report comes out to say that since 2013, with all those beneficial roadworks, things are significantly worse now than then.

Another cop shooting in the US, ordered by the charming Sheriff Oddie Shoupe (can anyone really be called that ?) I missed the beginning of the story, so didn’t know why it was happening, but the language was unedifying. The words like shit and fucker were bleeped, of course, but I find euphemisms like ‘take him out’ and ‘use deadly force’ more shocking. Why not just say ‘kill’ when that’s what you mean ? The person’s just as dead when the order to kill them is a euphemism.

Yes. I’m sure somewhere in the world someone agrees with you. Probably some KKK knight who isn’t to bright and thought your words and clip were a promotional video.
