Got the cast off my leg after 8 weeks and now I can stand on two feet instead of hopping everywhere on one. I will be in a moonboot and on crutches for at least another month, but at last I’m sort of mobile again. Recovering from an ankle break is a very slow process. I don’t recommend it to anyone. Many thanks to the surgeons at Wellington Hospital.

It’s a very painful thing to have, even an ordinary one. My sympathy, I nearly fainted when a bone in mine was cracked that time, the room spun round and round and kept coming and going. Yours must have been who knows how much worse.

I slipped down a bank at home going to water the vegetables. It seems so surreal and I have cursed myself many times since. When I awoke after slipping my first thought was to water the veges. Then I thought maybe the ankle was broken. How I got back up the bank to the house and up 17 steps I will never understand. My wife bandaged it up and I went to bed, thinking it would be ok in the morning. It wasn’t! At my wife’s insistence we went to hospital All bones in the ankle were broken. The rest is just a bad memory!

          OWWWWW !!!!

It’s amazing what one can do. My cat was, we assume, skittled by a car and made a journey with broken bones that still makes me go cold when I think about it . We found him lying on a beanbag (clever cat) and he cried when someone began to pick him up. No wonder. The beanbag made an excellent stretcher.

I once slipped on the muddy verge and caught my foot under a car wheel, wrenching the ankle badly and doing nasty damage to it-tore or broke something, I forget which. I somehow got back to the house, bandaged it, changed my muddy clothes and went to a meeting. Like you, I don’t know how. The next day…. well, you can imagine. I went to a private clinic, as it meant that I would be seen and xrayed quickly and the cost was actually quite reasonable. That was when they found that I had bust a bone when that fruit bowl fell on it.

Busted tendons are as bad as broken bones. No wonder we see big rugby players weeping in agony.

Funny sight across the road; a bird was sitting on a sheep’s back, as they do. The sheep suddenly moved away and the bird fell off. Heartless laughter from me.
