That seems like a fair choice. her determination had made a major difference to many aged care workers by getting them decent wage rates for difficult jobs. It should also benefit many of those being care for.

/ 23rd February 2018Oh well, it was a long shot putting my own name in for services to waterbirds & eels.
Mustn’t grumble.
Good on ya Kristine!

/ 24th February 2018My services to teddybears by making them smart little board shorts to keep them cool in this heat were passed over, too.

You really did ‘ROCK’ the boat …

/ 23rd February 2018That’s true. And as predicted the contracted privately-operated Rest Home & Hospital dad eventually died at immediately began charging pensioner ma more for his care. But it still needed to be done. The staff in that place were worth it!

/ 24th February 2018Look who gets the *gongs* … Richard Hadlee for NZ Cricket, Peter Blake for Team NZ, Richie McCaw for The All Blacks, John Key for the National Party … We give the accolades to the figureheads FFS!
Should the AB’s team physio get a Knighthood?
What’s the problem? “No mention of Jim Farmer QC …”?
Well Duckie … You just mentioned him!

/ 24th February 2018What is not mentioned is that the funding for rest homes wasn’t raised to cover the extra wages. The local one has found itself in dire straits, trying to make ends meet, and may have to sell the units that it rents out to pensioners who don’t need actual ‘care’.. Either that or not replace staff, the old sinking lid policy, so the remaining workers will be paid more for more work. Be careful what you ask for.
