I always feel better when a person doesn’t take themselves too seriously and are able to be self-deprecating and make fun of themselves.

The jokes from the GridIron Dinner and the above quote from another function show Trump is capable of seeing the lighter side of life, and may suggest that the tweeting storms Trump instigates are more strategic than unhinged lashing out.

He didn’t make fun of himself. Typically, he actually made fun of other people – Kushner, Melania, White House staff, Sessions…

Trump doesn’t seem to make fun of himself or appreciate anyone else doing it.

I don’t believe that he was intending to be funny . He probably didn’t realise that he was saying that HE was the madman.

Here comes the PDT who has not enough to do with his time.

          • The pronunciation isn’t a big deal, variations happen all the time. Like some people say ‘Germany’ while others say ‘Deutschland’.

I wonder what Trump’s view is of the armed teacher who used the gun, barricading himself in the classroom and firing out the window. The teacher had been acting oddly for a while, but was still let to carry a gun..

I was referring to the tweet in the post, but his other jokes were reflective of the chaos that surrounds him and were not derogatory to people like Sessions or Kushner. The joke about whether Melania would be the next to leave was fairly personally deprecating.

You’re not seeing it. Someone who can larf at themselves makes jokes about themselves. Not about how other people relate to them. He can’t do that.

“In his zero-sum universe, you’re either victorious or you’re defeated.”

In his world you agree with him or you’re mad? Or if you want to stay in his world you’d be mad to not agree with him?
