Easy Parti. He’s one of yours. Lurchy is just having a bad day. Fair point though. Ian Wishart has pointed to diseases that may cause such fractures. However, time will tell. Along with a photo of the family.

Baby is from Howick. At 2013 census, 5.2% of Howick’s population were Maori and that figure is likely lower today. Your insinuation is looking rather dubious…

You need to listen to Willie Jackson…then apologise. It’s like lazy Maori speakers who say ”cow-ra ” No ignorance here, son. But plenty of experience.

Ironically, my grandmother was an English teacher. She gave me sage advice on proper English. I wasn’t interested. Pity. Out of all the advice she gave me, the only thing I remember is:” don’t roll your vowels.” I still don’t know what that means.

I don’t hold out much hope for decisive action over the latest ”bashed baby” case. Our police have become wimpish and indecisive. This follows spouted bullshit by Stuart Nash on how Labour will deal with motorcycle gangs. At least Labour has an excuse- they are liberals. What’s Nationals excuse?

    Warning- foul language.

    * leftwing posters dont ring HDPA

    • PartisanZ

Shit! In order to engage in this I have to make generalizations about ‘Righties’ …

Talk-Back Radio is a Right-Wing echo-chamber, confirmation bias, systems justification platform Lurchy … (that’s why its failing) … Left-Wingers not only don’t ring HDPA … they don’t ring ANYONE on talk-back … (the system is evidently largely unworthy of justification)

Why would we Lefties phone up? They’re not there to understand … only to blame …

IF the perpetrators are Maori … and we don’t know yet …

What I do know is this: IF the Righties don’t think there’s even a COMPONENT – please note the word “component” meaning an ‘element’, portion or factor – of residual colonialism and systemic racism involved in child abuse in Aotearoa New Zealand then we’re never likely to solve or radically improve the situation …

Doesn’t really matter now, Lurchy. My guess- you have thirty years to learn the art of eating with chopsticks. The Pav will be a killer, especially if it’s topped with passion fruit.

Time for you to give up ZB Talk, Lurchy. It’s really bad for your health. All that fussing and angst will see the last of your hair drop out along with your piles.

Listen to Mikey below and learn how to give your habit up. Substitute tobacco for ZB.

Just plain old Rightie internal contradiction Corky. Oh no, we don’t tax any personally, communally and socially harmful and ‘addictive’ substances and activities – like liquor, out-sourcing and property speculation – but we can tax the hell outa one industry-targeted, vested-interest, harmful addictive substance …

I’ll be Rogered & Ruth most of the time, while its paying off, when I wanna be, but if I feel the need to ‘reconnect’ with my waning Rightie punter base, I’ll damn well be Rob Muldoon!

According to Larry, the law has been changed for the right to silence. He said someone may be jailed for up to 10 years for turning a blind eye. I don’t know whether that is true, but if it is, the cops have a duty to prosecutes these pricks ‘IF’ child abuse is proven.

He was speaking to Marie Dyhrberg. A kosher Leftie. That may tell you something about whether he is right or wrong. Like I said, I don’t know. I would look it up. But why bother?
We can already ascertain the outcome and waste of taxpayer money this case will entail.

Is it a crime if someone fails to report abuse that they know about?

In general there is no law that says you have to report an incidence of abuse, or an abusive situation.

However, if a child or vulnerable adult in your household is being seriously neglected or abused, then you must report the abuse. Failure to do so could make you liable for up to ten years in prison.

Even if you are not living with the victim, if you have frequent contact with the child or vulnerable adult and their family, and know the person is being mistreated, you could be breaking the law by not doing anything about it.

Not only that Gezza but under the Domestic Violence Act (s.3) it’s also a criminal act if you expose a child to domestic violence being carried out on another person the child has a relationship with:

a person psychologically abuses a child if that person—
          (a) causes or allows the child to see or hear the physical, sexual, or psychological abuse of a person with whom the child has a domestic relationship;
          or
          (b) puts the child, or allows the child to be put, at real risk of seeing or hearing that abuse occurring
