Ardern has been pretty awful so far in foreign affairs particularly with Australia and when called on it dismissed any suggestion she could be out of line by telling the Aussies to harden up basically. She the insulted the US president to her mates and like him or not its disrespectful and dumb behavior. She insulted the Philippines and there is the wrongheadedness of cosying up to the Russians and been dragged to stand alongside the Poms, it hasnt been fantastic so we are being left out now which is not good for a small isolated country.
Its funny the left always said Key would be hopeless at foreign affairs and he turned out to be probably the most effective PM we have ever had on the world stage.

Being invited to Balmoral is a very rare thing, Obama tapped him to take a lead role in de nuking, he helped deepen our trade relationship with China, got the TPP up and running, made some very well received addresses to the UN, the EU started to move towards an FTA on the back of his personal relationship with Rutte and Merkel. With mixed results had close and productive relationships with Aussie, Canadian and UK PMs.
And most importantly saved the Hobbit movies from being filmed elsewhere.
