To me the big question is why Peters wanted/wants a free-Trade deal with Russia when he has NEVER voted for a single trade deal ever.

I am deeply suspicious of this man and his motives.

Pithy, but entirely expected retort from an abusive contributor.

I agree Trav, he doesnt like FTA,s generally, Russia has been a pariah for a number of years, there economy is tiny and it will annoy all our friends. Peters has previous form so I expect something will get leaked sometime and the No sign will be dusted off.

I cant help but think Ardern knew more than she is letting on, she cant but probably has been advised to fire Kirton and she says she wont even if the inquiry blames him. Aside from her answers indicating she knew I have the suspicion that senior people said “look just pretend we never mentioned it and it will give you cover” with the end result being she cant take the action and fire someone because they will blab and then she has her Trudeau moment and the wheels rapidly fall off.
Unfortunately for Ardern she said she has never lied and she has been sprinkled with stardust so the expectations are pretty high.

        Nobody has ‘never lied’.

I would think that a simplified version could have been something like…

She guessed that something (camp scandal) was going on and being kept from her. She asks what for details. They say that if they don’t tell her, she can truthfully say that she didn’t know.

        She heard but didn’t ask.

They didn’t tell her and hoped that she wouldn’t ask or guess.

If she needs to be protected because of her condition, that is not a good thing. There is too much at stake for any PM to need to be spared and coddled longterm.

I missed the Arden interview so just watched the clip online. It’s not up TVNZ On Demand yet.

Man, she can spin & duck n dive like Steve Joyce. And she’s adept at deliberately misrepresenting the interviewer’s question so she can accuse the interviewer of something bad they didn’t say. Basically that’s dishonest.

Jacinda’s had a good week. People can see she fits the mould of your standard bullshitting politician perfectly, even masterfully – not the manufactured mould of the saint any more.

Question Toime this week should be inneresting.

(Why does she always say we’ve talked around, there questions around things – when she means “about”?)

I haven’t been able to find a clip of the Panel discussion yet.

Weasel words. Talking around ? That sounds as if they are avoiding the issue.

She is looking drawn, haggard and much older.

No, she really is looking like that. It doesn’t help when she wears harsh, dark colours that do nothing for her and make her look washed out. We all have colours that make us look like that, and when she’s already looking exhausted and drained, this makes her look even worse.

Surely people have noticed that she looks as if she’s under a lot of stress and strain !
