Chuckle on ZB this morning,Chuck Bird came on and started his rant by calling our PM “cindy”the host pulled Chuck up straight away for using a childish name for Jacinda and the kiwiblogger was taken back at the slap on the wrist. If only the public knew the range of insulting childish words used to discribe our PM on the right wing blogs

  2. Her name is Ms Ardern, Jacinda Ardern, Rt Hon Ardern or Prime Minister Ardern. I won’t use her first name on it’s own at all.

I am sure that Rt Hon takes both names, and Prime Minister does, but with a comma. Prime Minister, X Y, not Prime Minister Y.

I wonder if her pally effusiveness leads people to treat her in a more casual way than if she had a little more restraint and dignity.

  3. As for the crude nicknames, the troll and leftist activist handle standard for Sir John Key was JoKey or DonKey, so in that context Cindy is charming.

Foo Fangs somehow seems appealing but I’ll wait to see if what she does is more vacuous than what she says.

No such person exists. A knight is always called Sir First-name Surname, never, never Sir Surname.

There isn’t anyone called that. There is Sir JOHN Key, but he is Sir John, not Sir Key.

Knights are never called Sir Surname.

Fred Dagg would be Sir Fred if he was knighted, not Sir Dagg.

      🙄 * Parliament, & Question 4.

Speaker Trev just awarded two extra supplementaries to the Opposition for that idiot Twyford using Government supplementaries to attack the previous government, which he should know is not allowed but probably forgot because he’s an idiot.

Then Parliament’s channel abruptly stopped broadcasting. Screen still blank. Other channels still working. Dunno what they’re playing at. Didn’t happen under National. Just saying.

Back now, but only for the end of Question 12. Bit of confusion over whether National had any supplementaries left. Todd McLay asked a stupid one, trev ruled it out. Parker wanted to answer the out of order question. Someone else raised a point of order asking if he could answer it. Trev said only if there was no objection. There was objection. Winston said something smartass. Inglorious end to the proceedings really.

Question 4. Shambolic affair all round, I’m afraid. Joke of the Day goes to Big Gez Brownlee, though. Trev got flustered and called him Rt Hon. The apologises for “promoting him”. Gez’s reply’s great 😀

“As an economist my bias is to see human actions in terms of self-interest, competition and conflict, where through the invisible hand the interaction of self-interested individuals can lead to productive outcomes. But like the fish who is blind to the vast ocean of water they live in, I realised I was blind to the ocean of cooperation that was the back-drop to my focus on self-interest and competition.

In “Ultrasociety” Turchin provides a way to see and measure cooperation – to quantify its existence on a massive scale. Once you are able to see the great ocean of cooperation that dominates human society, it leads you to interesting and challenging lines of scientific inquiry.

The puzzling question is then how a world dominated by ultra social human cooperation can also frequently succumb to large scale war and conflict?

Turchin’s answer, and one of the big ideas in the book, is that war between social groups is the mechanism by which cooperative behaviour develops “within groups”. It is a fundamental evolutionary process happening between societies at a large scale. He elevates war as a selection mechanism for cooperation, and values it above many of the technological factors like domestication of plants and the advent of agriculture.” – Cameron K Murray – Evonomics
