Don’t jump in & help him. Poor duckie !

How to lose a sale on Trade Me; give a silly, smartie answer to a question. They can’t want to sell the dog carrier that badly.

By the way – that’s Pickles – not a duck!

Sorry, the colour of the feathers deceived me.

No worries. He was just learning to swim then & hadn’t encountered the stream in flood before. Two others were explaining to me at the fence how they deserved some more wheat – and they saw him go by & rushed off along the bank to help him somehow. They turned up with him in tow again. Now he can fly he’d just fly over a flooded stream in future. I had to kick him out of the back back yesterday afternoon. The constant hanging around bleating for hours became insufferable.

              Charming, Your poor wee moko.

I’m sure that the tightrope wire walker was showing off. It’s not surprising, it was most impressive for a pukeko with feet that size.

Yes, they are very good at wire walking on narrow surfaces like thin branches or fence tops: they use their wings to keep their balance if necessary.

He’s a boy bird – learns the hard way, Kitty.

Besides Pickles at the bottom, there are actually two of them up trees in there. Bluey on the left and Aspen doing the paragliding.

Yours are excellent flyers. I haven’t seen the local ones starting from such a height, although they may do it in places other than the walkway. They aren’t as tame as yours, and one wouldn’t expect them to be, but they let me come quite close before they saunter away. It was a delight to see that one running up the tree, as I never thought that I’d actually see that sight. They run up a bank which is quite high and straight up. I did feel mean laughing when the Lion squawking surprised one and made it fall into the stream 😀

Who is the Lion? The dog?

The dog’s pet, I mean toy lion who has squeaks in all four paws and tum which can be manipulated to make sounds like birds. I have often made him have ‘conversations’ with birds, even a pook (he answered the tummy squeaker which is deeper) I first did it as a joke when a bird was chirping nearby and was amazed that the bird answered. The Lion is a very engaging animal who now wears a Lions footy outfit, made by me,

Hello, PDTs who like to try to spoil General Chat with their sour tempers – how sad to be like that. This should be the one place where even the PDTs should refrain from their churlishness. Some hope,

There’s wankers everywhere, Kitty. Sometimes they like to let you know they’re around.
