As many black people of African descent are much better runners than whites, is athletics also racist ?

The fastest runner I have encountered was a Maori boy who looked big and clumsy and not like a threat to anyone in a race….until it began. Was it racist to enter him and clear the board as far as prizes went ?

It seems the #MeToo discussion has strayed so far away from victims of sexual abuse that it is now finding allegations where there aren’t any. The allegations are no longer made by victims, but by journalists on victims’ behalf. And they have become increasingly trivial. First there were grave reports of years of serial abuse by the likes of Harvey Weinstein, then there was the outrage over little more than a touched knee or a bad date with Aziz Ansari, then there was the re-reporting of allegations made publicly years ago (a la Woody Allen), and now they’re going after the dead, even if their alleged victims didn’t feel victimised.

I read that story, the actress, of course, is too stupid (being a woman) to know that what she saw as clowning around was sex abuse, silly her. Why can’t people take someone’s word that they are not a victim ?

    From Brietbart London
Girl Guides leaders are pushing back against rules allowing boys and young men to “identity” as female and share showers with biological girls, as well as banning parents from knowing when this happens.
Girlguiding UK adopted the ideology of transgenderism and “gender fluidity” last year and changed its policies, which apply to children aged from 5 to 25, without putting in place measures to deter sexual predators from accessing girls’ facilities.

      Which part?
      The very low unemployment?
      The balance of trade surplus?
      The growth in manufacturing?
      Low interest rates?
      Budget surpluses?
I think the problem is the foxes have been let loose in the henhouse lurch – and now corruption and reckless spending seem to be taking over.

Duck, do you not think that $1,000,000 houses are ‘affordable’ ?

Nor do I. I also resent the fact that I would be subsidising these.

Good heavens, 3 people think that a house costing $1,000,000 is ‘affordable’ and don’t mind subbing these houses.

  6. Kiwiblog:

The saga became public after National MP Melissa Lee asked questions Hirschfeld’s meeting with Curran at a Wellington cafe.

Lee asked Radio NZ chief executive Paul Thompson about it at a select committee and Thompson said it had been a chance encounter between the pair. But on Sunday, Hirschfeld told Thompson the meeting had been arranged.

So the nature of the meeting was lied about. We were assured at the time they just happened to run into each other at Astoria, and this is now revealed to be a lie.

Why a lie? Who asked for the meeting and arranged it? If they tried to cover up the nature of it, that is an admission they knew it was inappropriate. The meeting had already drawn criticism from National, which claimed Curran had tried to hide the meeting as it was not included in her diary.

And, Curran failed to mention the meeting in response to written questions. You could possibly understand that for an unplanned meeting, but this was an arranged meeting.
Also, why did Hirschfeld after months of lying about the meeting, suddenly tell the truth to her boss at Radio NZ. Was it about to be exposed?

Kelvin Davis will be sweating on the other time bomb Nikki Kaye planted at Question time in the house regarding meetings with the Charter Schools in his electorate.
If it turns out he was less than forthcoming on that one it will cement a fairly strong trend of secretive and inappropriate ministerial influence in important operational matters.

All a misunderstanding according to Ardern as Curren told her it was an official meeting within 24 hours of saying it wasn’t in parliament & all is good in the world – nothing to see here.

However no mention from Ardern why if this was the case the public wasn’t informed as to Curren’s initial deception and Hirschfeld was allowed to continue to say it was a ‘chance encounter’ when Ardern/Curren were aware it wasn’t & the truth only eventually came out because a ‘source’ confirmed to a reporter that Hirschfeld was lying.

        https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/102619960/rnz-senior-manager-carol-hirschfeld-resigns-over-meeting-with-minister

        Question is are these things linked;

*’Unofficial’ meeting between Hirschfeld (head of news content RNZ) & Broadcasting Minister Clare Curren &
*Stuff: “Curran was seeking a $$38m annual boost for public media in the next Budget, to be split between Radio NZ and NZ on Air. The Government has signalled RNZ would be getting the lion’s share of that funding boost.”

Is this a case of ‘we pay (with taxpayer money), you play our tune?’

the former AG ,fond of calling people ‘clowns’ shown up….scandalous…
1] In July 2015 Mr Dotcom sent an information privacy request to all 28 Ministers of the Crown and nearly every government department (the agencies). The 52 requests were in near identical terms and requested all personal information held about Kim Dotcom including information held under his previous names. The requests advised that because the information was required for “pending legal action”, urgency was sought. It is common ground that the litigation referred to included (inter alia) an extradition eligibility hearing in the District Court then due to commence on 21 September 2015.

[2] Nearly all the requests were transferred by the agencies to the Attorney-General.

[3] On 5 August 2015 the Solicitor-General provided a response on behalf of the Attorney-General in which the requests were declined on the stated ground that, in terms of the Privacy Act 1993 (PA), s 29(1)(j) the requests were vexatious and included information which was trivial. The Solicitor-General also advised that insufficient reasons for urgency had been provided.

An excellent dissection of the ban on foreign buyers. Commentators and experts on all sides
agree it is a dog and will make things worse:

    _________________________________________________

“Still, watching the select committee hearings was a strangely riveting spectacle – largely because almost everyone said the same thing. The basic political premise of the bill is great, they said. We support stopping foreign speculators buying houses which would otherwise be available for New Zealanders, they said.

But as it stands, they said, the bill itself will end up doing the opposite of what is intended. It will obstruct the building of affordable housing. Oh, and it will also stymie us as we go about our business.

Submitters may not have used the same words as ACT leader and select committee member David Seymour, who summed up the OIAB as “an unworkable disaster of a bill”. But the phrase “unintended consequences” hung heavy over the room.
