Chocolate causes significant global warming – now that is a new twist. And it is true because scientists say so in a peer reviewed paper.

Did Loof Lirpa (well-known Finnish expert) or Abel Tafulya ( Pasifika ditto) have anything to do with this ?

My elderly Sri Lankan widow neighbour’s daughter is visiting for a week from Australia. We just had a quick korero over the North fence (I have to stand on an outdoor chair – it’s very Home Improvement). When I said TTFN she quickly said “Oh. Wait a minute, Gez: I’ve got something for you” and came back out with a box of Liviano Choceur hazelnut chocolate bars. “You can’t get these here”, she said, “They’re really nice.”

I’m about to test one. 😀

Hmmmm….there may or may not be a pun in there somewhere….

I think that Whittakers can easily give Lindt a run for its money. It’s better, really. I remember those little, overpriced choccy bars from the vending machines in the UK and Europe, The Nestles ones were like wood, one would last from Dover to London as one could only suck them 😀 I always look at Belgian chox to see where they were made, in case it’s where we lived (or somewhere I know) It’s a letdown when it just says ‘Made in Belgium’. The chocolate is very sweet, I don’t like it much,

I am going to try something to see if I can stop Outlook Photo Hub hogging so much storage space.

Robert is your cousin’s brother. I guess it does a bit. Let us know how you get on. I don’t use Outlook photo hub, so no idea how to help you there. :/
Possibly the PDT does, but I wouldn’t expect much help from that one.

These little guys weren’t aware Daylight Saving ended early this morning. I’m hoping they might arrive later tomorrow. I’ve explained they’re early, which is why they light’s not the best.

The three adults were back an hour later! Just as the sun was rising on a dewy but perfect-looking, blue-sky, windless morning. Happy to groom and crop some grass on my back lawn while I stood there chatting about the weather.

Pickles (good lad) was obviously doing the baby-sitting of Jojo on the nest. Developing responsibility. It’ll be good for him. He’s been a bit of a larrikin lately. And a right blimmin whiner, too!

It was an amazing time for birds. It was nippy earlier. The day’s warming up fast already with the sun in the East, about 2 o’clock high – absolutely blazing.

Suddenly there was that recognisable whooshing sound as a tui came powering through, Southbound, weaving as he flew into a large tree. The pooks all missed it. Busy grooming or eating grass. I’d no sooner finished telling them what happened than 3 a flight or 3 more tuis in formation did the same thing, and flew into the same tree.

The next minute pairs of ducks began to drop out of the sky en masse – about 20 – coming from both North and South, gliding down into the stream. They looked like Klingon Birds Of Prey. I looked up Northwards to see a pair of them high up, in close formation, curving in from South via East and I wondered if they were headed for my patch too. They were, and they came out the sun, just like any good fighter pilot would do as they too angled in and landed in the water.

Fascinating 15 minutes – haven’t had that experience before. 😀

That’s not little Pickles !!! It can’t be,

I saw a small black and white bird today, not a baby magpie (thank goodness) It looked like a sparrer, but was banded (more or less) in a b/w pattern. I have never seen one like it that I remember.

It must have been a sparrer, a leucistic one (fancy name for albino) as I saw ones like it when I googled just now.

    @ Kitty

The morning was so quiet and the stream bank bathed in sunlight that the ducks and pooks were all just kicking back and luxuriating in their surroundings today, when I took another coffee break.

The pooks were all contentedly wombling around below me on the parenga, pecking at a bit of foliage here and there, stopping from time to time to comb their breast feathers. It was all very idyllic.

And Jojo was standing in the sun, up the bank, so I just stood quietly & watched her for a while. And I noticed several things.

Firstly Jojo’s little head-plate is red. Pickles’ was black. Jj also has a little sharp white beak, like Pickles did at this age, but Jojo’s has a cute red lipstick band around the base. Jojo is quieter than Pickles was. Jojo also has noticeable tiny, frilly frilly white feathers at the edges of those tiny little flappers that I don’t see on my early videos of Pickles.

And Jojo stood there for ages, just grooming and grooming, determined to look as clean and cute as possible.

Jojo, I reckon, has GOT to be a girl, so any aunties can definitely call Jojo a “her”. 😀

      We can be her godmothers.

      Frillies already ! She’s a real girl.

I’m not getting any upticks from you for these efforts? What’s going on? Do you want to remain an official aunty?

Yes, I’m going through all the hi-res video clips on my Nokia 5 smartphone, running the “stabilise” program on all those I want to keep. (The blimmin phone doesn’t stabilise while I’m videoing, you have to do it afterwards: also it has no pause/resume button like my old cellcams.)

I’m embarrassed that I’m calling Pickles “good girl”. There are many good close-ups of him. These two chicks have very noticeable differences. This new one’s a little lady alright. I’m sure of it. ❤

There. I can’t imagine who tne pathetic miseryguts was who downticked me for seeing an albino bird, and saying that we aunties could be Jojo’s godmothers.

Btw, the above video is from the dailymotion site.

You can’t view my Vimeo video book at the moment. I did a lot of work on it yesterday night, & earlier in that day – writing and editing sections and profile, and finding out more about the site and the possibilites it offers for reorganising as I load older and later video clips.

You can only view 3 lines of text so I would publish, read, and go back in and edit many times. This caused their automated spam checking program to kick and lock the site until the site moderation team can review it.

I got an email notice and an onsite feedback form. It’s a very well-run site. Even these notifications are polite and friendly. I explained online what videos I’m loading. As it’s a holiday time and I’ve only got a limited scope/size free account, not a paying or premium one, it’ll be three days before they unlock it for public viewing.

I can still work on it and view it myself, meantime.
