That hasn’t been well publicised, Lurchy. Mikey has a life filled with vim and vigour and good wine. He can’t been listening to radio and watching tele in his private theatre 24/7.

New Zealand seems to have its first religious rightwing radio station NZME newstalkZB.They are regulary running a religious ad from some Christian group, today’s theme was miricles, and they obviously are hoping that their rightwing hosts bagging of our PM will produce a miricles for the party of the past National.

We like to laugh at Sweden’s liberal approach to Muslims. But what about New Zealand’s liberal attitude towards crime and punishment? This is a disgusting indictment on our governments, both past and present.

in our pants and pray to a higher power none of the toys thrown out of the sandpit hit us.

Of course he doesn’t pay his bills. As Robert Kiyosaki says: always use other peoples money for business, never your own. Wise council…Lurchy. Advice America’s greatest president has taken( AL is now in second place).

The moral standard of a poster is revealed in what he posts, Corky you posted that it is good to rip of people who work for you and if some poor subbie who has been burned by a rich right wing person who has bankrupted themselves to avoid paying their bills after doing the work that is good and wise…sad really, its called moral standards

Bullseye, Lurchy. I am mirroring your moral standards. Once you tidy up your act, I will do likewise.

Trump has hit 50% approval rating according to Rasmussen, great to see the people recognizing what a brilliant job he is doing and he isnt the end of days they have been screaming about.
He is out polling Obama from 8 years ago which is no great surprise.

Yes Rasmussen has Trumps approval at 50% but the average approval rating is 41.8. Not “fake news” rather “selective news”. Trump’ s average approval rating has risen from below 38, to nearly 42. Come back when the average approval is over 50.

Police “explain” why SH1 had to be closed for 12 hours on the busiest day of the year. Would this be tolerated in any other democracy?

Leighton’s show let rip on this topic this morning. He interviewed some senior police officer who oversaw the above operation. Didn’t learn much because he kept coming back to the point that police have a job to do.

It’s because a blade of grass or a piece of gravel might be unaccounted for and that becomes important in the third retrial of someone. Every blade of grass, every piece of gravel on the road has to be sorted, just in case.

Worse than delaying people on their travels the thorough approach means legions of sceptics and critics over years will be denied the theorising and hypothesising about the significance of said piece of grass or gravel. And pontificating about the angle of the sun coming up and the light that morning getting into someones eyes and making a jar of peanut butter look like a machete and so shots having to be fired.

If Leighton Smith’s best mate had been shot (if he has a best mate) he’d be the first looking for a blade of grass, a pebble, a ray of shadow to condemn and charge someone.

I don’t find that credible. Without proper investigation and analysis these are just assertions. Do these long closures happen anywhere else?

A quick google suggests about 6 hrs is normal for road closures after police killings in the US.

       /  April 4, 2018

Not quite 12 hours, but the M5 was closed earlier this year for 10 hours after an accident, and after the Shoreham Airshow crash the A27 was closed for 8 days. The M5 is regularly closed for 5-8 hours, as is the M1, so yeah, it is tolerated in other democracies.

Remember, NZ is not the US, I would guess that a lot of the forensic people had to travel from Auckland, so you would need to take into account travel time for them to arrive at the scene, in the US the forensic investigators may not have as far to travel.

      Who ARE these people ?

If it’s the Trumps, I would guess that Stormy Daniels would be well aware of STDs and take extreme precautions against them, no worries there. She’s a professional and would take care with these hazards. I’d be more worried about someone who wasn’t a professional if it was me.

Melania Trump personiifies being careful about what you ask for. Poor girl.

Does anyone else feel that daylight saving should not end when it does, or even end at all ? People I have spoken to think that the extra hour of daylight would be more appreciated at the end of the day, when we’d get some good of it, than in the morning when people are busy and don’t notice it so much ?

I’ve never thought about it before, but I think it would be ok. We wouldn’t have to adjust all the bloody clocks. I forgot the one in my car. Did it today before I zipped up to New World.

Remember Jacinda Ardern saying that people were paying too much for petrol and she was going to do something about it ? Well, she has. 20c a litre more for Aucklanders and 10c a litre more for everyone else.

The Tramways Union won’t be gaining support by telling people to get used to walking, strikes are coming.
