          A satirical one.

A real problem I have with most of the video I take of the pooks at the moment truly is Pickles’ whining. It goes on all the time, unless he’s actually eating. Every video clip lately has Pickles whingeing on and on and on in it. The clips are short because he’s ruining them with that constant whining.

That’s nice, that is, a grandfather has no sympathy for his poor little moko. Charming.

The little devil’s been spoiled rotten. Even when you ignore him he just carries on for an hour or so at a time. It’s probably not normal pooklet behaviour once they can feed themselves. He may be extending his childhood treating me as a kind of parent – this is the sort of thing they do when they are tiny and need to be fed. The adults get annoyed wih him when begs from them so he doesn’t try it on very often. I assume this is the normal weaning process. But it’s been altered by me being a feeder & him still begging.

It is getting rather funny when people are visiting or delivering either to me or my neighbours & I’m out the front, pottering about, or clearing the mail.

I get: “There’s a pukeko standing on your fence!”
Me, looking at where they’re pointing: Oh yes, that’s Sweety. I expect Bluey Aspen & Pickles are already waiting in my back yard. They come every day for morning /afternoon tea”. 😀

“Excuse me while I go and make the cucumber sandwiches and put cream in the sponge for them. Pickles loves sponge cake, and I hate to disappoint him.’

Anybody here ever put a set of light guage steel strings on an acoustic electric and if so how did it sound then?

Cool. Thanks for that NOEL. My local music shop is run by a muso whose advice I used to take, but I’ve been learning to ignore it and check elsewhere because his assurances are often only his guess and he sometimes just makes shit up on the spot. I like to bend the notes and standard gauge on an acoustic are hard work. (It’s easier on a classical but it wears their 3 wound strings out really fast.)

I haven’t done a concert for waterbirds for a while, but I might do them one again soon

An old Zen monk once told me ‘only light electric strings for acoustic guitars grasshopper’. He was a very good muso as well as a sensei

He didn’t, I threw that in for effect. It was an old FG180 with a very mellow sound and to be fair he was very specific.
‘That guitar is made for fender light electric strings’ said he…

Actually I told a porky there G. I’m old, not the gat. When I acquired it circa 1970 it was new. Twice the guitar of the one that replaced it, my current ibanez

I only saw two pooks today. One was standing on a tree and one was ambling around near a cat, neither taking any notice of the other.
