Comments worth more exposure may be repeated as posts.Comments from other forums can be repeated here, cut and paste is fine.

Your NZ is a mostly political and social issues blog but not limited to that, and views from anywhere on the political spectrum are welcome. Some ground rules:

  • If possible support arguments, news, points or opinions with links to sources and facts.
  • Please don’t post anything illegal, potentially defamatory or abusive.

FIRST TIME COMMENTERS: Due to abuse by a few first comments under any ID will park in moderation until released (as soon as possible but it can sometimes take a while).

Sometimes comments will go into moderation or spam automatically due to mistyped ID, too many links (>4), or trigger text or other at risk criteria.

Free speech is an important principle here but some people who might pose a risk to the site will have to keep going through moderation due to abuses by a small number of malicious people.

  1. An interesting judgment in Judicial Decisions Online: NOTTINGHAM v APN NEWS & MEDIA LTD [2018] NZHC 596 [29 March 2018]

    • There is quite a bit I could say about this but that will need to wait. But I can refer to this:

Thanks Pete; typical misuse of the courts by one of this troupe of clowns. I note the appearance of a “Mr. Slater”, so it appears that alliance continues. I guess that each blow to the ego caused by consecutive legal defeats only increases Nottingham’s desperation for a ‘win’, so I’m picking we’ll have a few more of these judgements to read yet.

The ‘Dermot Express’ would have to be the slowest-motion trainwreck I’ve ever encountered!

I only just read that judgement. Fuck that’s embarrassing. What a plonker this man is.

      • There’s a lot more like that.

          😀 Yes. So I understand.
          Seems impervious to education.
Still, I’m not normally one who likes to judge, as you know. Might have been dopped on his head as a baby. It happens. (Don’t ask.) 😐

HDPA is having an emotional meltdown,i can almost hear her stamping her feet in impotent rage against our PM Jacinda Adern. She stated that she didn’t think the Green Party would be around in 10 years,i dont think she will be on NZME newstalkZB in 6 months as her listening base shrinks to only the right.

A judgement I read from a United States court is brought to mind by Wyllie’s judgement – well one little part of it. In that US case the ruling did what it needed to do following the expected conventions but the conventional ways of putting things were not the preferred method.
The judge told it as it needed to be said.

That part in Wyllie’s judgement is, “In the event, Mr Nottingham’s case was a shambles.”
