Well written and interesting article and good on the Herald for a change. He quite amusingly points out the gay boss of Qantas wanting to dump sponsorship of Aussie rugby after Falau,s comments yet they have a massive joint venture with Emirates that he signed and their owner still locks up homosexuals.
In becoming accepting and tolerant perhaps we are becoming less accepting and tolerant.

Dumping sponsorship of Aussie Rugby just because ione player – Folau – is an ignorant religious twerp is just so over the top it’s bloody daft.

      He’ll have to go. 😡
Who else have they got? 😳

“Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has been named among Time magazine’s most influential 100 people of 2018.

Time says the list is of “a designation of individuals whose time, in our estimation, is now”.”

    Time
    Magazine.

    • Like Obama’s Nobel prize, this seems to be more on potential than actual. I think it’s far too soon to tell how influential Ardern will be outside the celebrity circuit (Macron and Trudeau have both struggled to fulfil their hype and faltered, so far at least).

Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize for not being George W Bush. Hasn’t produced a budget yet & I’m not aware of her having any influence on the foreign or domestic policy of any other country yet – although she’s popular with any tiny Pacific nations she’s promised more money to & who wouldn’t be?

It is crystal clear that Time magazine is a refuge for trendy, loony ,lefties and dominated by SJW’s intent on virtue signalling, and spending other people’s….money.

Was just reading my Mum’s letters from 1942 as her brother was being shipped off to the war. Scary times. We are lucky.

Yes, we are. Having a dad who volunteered & fought in North Africa and Italy, I constantly remind myself how incredibly fortunate I’ve been to live my whole life without being conscripted & my arms or limbs blown off or my mum watching some flag-draped coffin come home after I was sent off to fight in some deadly & destructive war.

I had 5 uncles that went to war 2 uncles-in-law and 3 blood uncles, All came back albeit all physically damaged and all with damaged minds. All in Maori Battalion.
Talking to them all as I was growing up they each told me they enlisted for an adventure and they were all very sad in retrospect that they did. One uncle came home to a half-dead wife, another came home to a son from another man, etc
          Tama Toa all of them.

             /  April 20, 2018

Yes, dad was invalided home from Monte Casino & think he foolishly enlisted for the adventure – something he obviously regretted. He talked very little about it. When he did he’d tell stories about some of the amusing things he’d seen (Maori battalion soldiers featured in a couple of stories), the Holy Land & Cairo, a little bit about German tactics, and the pity he felt for Italian soldiers, his admiration for Montgomery & respect for Rommel. He didn’t say much about the horrors he saw but he saw plenty. He didn’t talk much about it at all though.

I saw an elderly woman wearing a lovely poppy brooch that I admired very much, but she was too far away for me to asj her about it.

I wear an old poppy that still looks new and put some money into the bucket; recycling. I have put my husband’s last one behind it; it doesn’t show, but I know that it’s there.

My mother’s rather glam aunts were in the services, and looked so chic in uniform (tailor-made, not army issue for them) that she was hoping that the war would last until she was old enough to join up. I saw one great-aunt’s photos of herself in uniform, and she looked like a recruitment poster. One either has it or one hasn’t. One great-uncle was in the RAF. Why did their uniform make them all look like film stars ?

I know someone whose father was one of the soldiers who liberated Belsen. You’d never, ever be the same again.

There’s an awful, awful story about two soldiers with the same name in one battalion. One was killed, and the wrong family was told that their son was dead. They then had a letter to say that he wasn’t…followed by another to say that he was now.

Judith Collins final shot on the HUB today was “the nurses didn’t go on strike under national”
Judith only the fat cats got rich pay packets under national, nurses got nothing and are the skeleton crew, actually doing the work, something national didn’t appreciate, hence the opposition benches

I can understand why “whats his name” Corky who was put in moderation hasn’t returned, it’s hard posting something and its blocked, when you see crap sailing through, but its PGs blog, lets not make it a KIWIBLOG echo chamber, where the PMs partner is posted as a coke snorting rooter and our PM is described as a horse faced slut chippy.THEY CAN POST on farrars open blog, but im still moderated and Corkys has gone.

Corky was a troll and spent a lot of time on personal abuse and statements about people (usually me) that were complete fabrications. That’s not free speech.

Incredible isn’t necessarily a compliment. It can mean absurd, preposterous or unbelievable in a totally negative way. It is meaningless unless one knows what is in the user’s mind.

Holy shit, Comey memo,s released and Trump was never the target of collusion investigation, Comey said Trump wanted to know if someone on the campaign had done something wrong and Comey confirms that Trump is and was never a target of Russian collusion.
Further news Trump is not a target of Muellers investigation. The raid on Trumps lawyer Cohen Trump is not the target of the raid.
    Left wingers brains explode

         /  April 20, 2018

Re read it and yup its a little incoherent, my bad.

Quite big news especially the Cohen raid being not Trump related. Comey said Trump encouraged him to investigate potential Russia collusion, Comey and McCabe are having a huge fallout and the inspector general is reccomending McCabe is prosecuted.
The FBI and Justice departments top people are not coming out of this looking good, way too political and far too much in Clintons camp. Loretta Lynch looks like she could have some issues too.
