Dirty campaign continues at WO

Cameron Slater made debatable denials of involvement in the spreading of rumours. Both he and ‘Nige’ (Helper and problem solver for Cam Slater’s Whaleoil) have stated there was no factual basis to the rumours.

But Whale Oil has continued to run a smear campaign against Clarke Gayford. Dirty politics, and proud of it.

Posted by SB on Tuesday: Help us update the Whaleoil dictionary

Political retard A politician who has said or done something stupid politically.

Rules of politics, The rules as devised by Cam.

  1. If you are explaining, you are losing
  2.  Utu is good, even necessary
  3. Never hug a corpse – it smells and you end up smelling like the corpse too
  4. Always know where the bodies are buried
  5. Don’t let mongrels get away with being mongrels
  6. Don’t mess with The Whale or Cactus Kate
  7.  Never wrestle with pigs, two things are for certain if you do. You will get dirty and the pig will enjoy it.
  8. Never ask a question if you don’t already know the answer
  9. Speak plain, Speak Simple
  10. Remember, I’m telling this story
  11. Never trust a politician if you aren’t close enough to them to hit them in the back of the head with a bit of 4×2
  12.  Never trust a politician with a moustache or a hyphenated name.

Ratf**king  Undermining or ruining someone’s reputation. Not a personal profanity but an actual political term. Google it.

Slater’s reputation is well known. He is now supported by SB (aka spanishbride aka Juana Atkins) who seems to be just about as shameless.

Who is Nige? He works in the shadows at WO, but seems to have become a major cog in the Oily machine. Ity’s easy to get dragged into things online – I wonder if he has ever stepped back and reflected on what he has become a part of.

Slater has some problems and helping perpetuate dirty smears is hardly going to solve them. It is digging deeper into the mire.

The media mostly ignores WO these days, and that seems to annoy the hell out of them because they have long seeded  stories relying on mainstream media to give them momentum.

They seem to have decided that getting dirtier will somehow make a difference. All it does is reinforce how toxic they are politically.

National leader Simon Bridges made a major faux pas yesterday, ‘liking’ a smear tweet (yet another in the dirty campaign against Clarke Gayford). This is very unfortunate for Bridges and National, who will have hoped to have put 2014’s ‘Dirty Politics’ behind them along with Jason Ede and John Key.

Now Bridges has attached himself to WO, and unless he clearly and unequivocally disassociates himself from WO and from doing dirty politics that is   stain that will be difficult to shed.

Slater may see Bridges’ balls up as an opening for Judith Collins to take over the leadership she has been seeking, but her past association with Slater and his continued championing of her must count strongly against that, unless the aim is to drag National rightwards and downwards to niche party status. Ironically Collins is one of National’s best performing MPs.

Regardless, expect the dirty campaigning to continue at WO. It seems to be the only way they know, along with whinging about being held to account for their despicable smears.

They appear to be gearing up for an attack the messenger outburst.

Who is Nige? Good question. Someone with a diverse tool box would be my guess.

Rule number two is a necessity in life. How to deliver utu is where the art lies. Otherwise you start an endless war of ‘tit for tat.’

Anyone who never asks a question to which they don’t know the answer will be very ignorant. It’s a senseless rule. How would one ever find out anything ? Where’s the sense in asking where the dunny is if you already know ?

These rules are mostly old and unoriginal and were stupid when they were new.

    A couple of things in reply;

PG: “Now Bridges has attached himself to WO, and unless he clearly and unequivocally disassociates himself from WO and from doing dirty politics that is a stain that will be difficult to shed.”

I disagree – making a big issue of it will only make people think he is hiding something, which he obviously isn’t as Slater hates Bridges. From what I’ve seen his error in liking a post from Whaleoil has received very little MSM coverage.

PG: “Slater may see Bridges’ balls up as an opening for Judith Collins to take over the leadership she has been seeking”

Whaleoil is a non-event in terms of influencing anybody. Personally I wouldn’t give them the undue exposure they crave.

It’s no accident that that comes after 6, Don’t mess with The Whale or Cactus Kate
and 7, Never wrestle with pigs.

In the past I’ve seen that SB was a teacher. She has posted about schools and teachers. I wonder when she set up her classes and established behaviour codes if she gave kids the freedom to fill the gap in the rule “Never trust ……. if you aren’t close enough to them to hit them in the back of the head with a bit of 4×2”.

ALL part of the ‘alt-right’ smear campaigns, to ‘muck rake’ the left..
similar to most on ‘newstalk ZB’ (aka Natl party radio ?); hosking, smith, russell etc. who all ‘sing the praises’ of the right-wing & attack the left, on an ongoing basis.
I wonder if there ‘free advertising’ for Natl should be included as ‘campaign donations’; $millions worth ??

I read Whaleoil Beef Hooked, just like I read The Daily Blog.

I feel balanced reading each as they are at the extremes of political commentary and one gets both perspectives.

To not read both would be like watching CNN, you just don’t get a balanced picture reading just one.

How does reading one poltically unbalanced blog & then another blog unbalanced to the opposite end of the political spectrum leave you concluding that you now have a balanced perspective? Don’t you just have two unbalanced perspectives?

You could call any blog unbalanced and one sided, so which blogs should one read?

Perspective balance in a virtuously signaled objective and as it is subjective to ones preconceived opinions, an impossible state of being.

There is no such thing as perspective balance.

Bit like watching Fox and CNN to get a balanced perspective. Never going to work as one or the other reinforces individual biases.

What you can get is; well that is what the left think (The daily Blog is about revolution, unionism and nationalisation of assets, etc.) and here is what the right thinks (W.O. is about Judith Collins, freedom of speech, and anti PC, etc.) .

Yep, bad wording in the first post. Should have said “Reading each as they are at the extremes of political commentary and one gets both alternative perspectives”.

Balanced would indicate they were equal when that may or may not be the case.

Not a good choice of word “balanced” in describing the views of each blog…my bad.

Seriously Gerrit, nobody reads the TDB for balance. It’s for humour surely?

It’s greatest claim to fame was helping National win the 2014 election by a larger majority. It’s an Alt-Right sleeper cell.

There is a certain irony in WhaleOil’s definition of a political retard: The most toxic man the political world calling others political retards.

I do not think a retard can identify another retard by definition. That’s because they are retarded.

    Just more BS from WhaleOil.

No they can. There was an IHC school not far from my college and when we used to take the bus instead biking the 5 miles to school a number of IHC pupils would board it in town too. One of them used to make a point of coming and sitting with my group of larrikins because, as he told us, the others were retarded and he wasn’t.

“Now Bridges has attached himself to WO, and unless he clearly and unequivocally disassociates himself from WO and from doing dirty politics that is stain that will be difficult to shed.” Oh nice Pete…. very subtle dirty politics of your own stating Bridges has attached himself to WO – he has done no such thing…. and demanding Bridges do what you think is right…. very nice controlling attitude

He liked a tweet….. it means very little, but your certainly pounding that drum loud….why?

    • It may have been an inadvertent attachment but that’s exactly how some see it, and it is certainly how some are describing it.

I don’t know what Bridges’ views are on WO and Slater. He has made weak statements against the rumour spreading last week, and weak statements after yesterday’s widely reported ‘like’. The perception of an association with the WO smears may be unfortunate but they are real, and they will get repeated, possible for months or years.

I think Bridges needs to make an unequivocal statement about both doing dirty politics and doing anything to assist WO doing dirty politics. Otherwise I believe this stain will remain.

  9. Very predictable – when challenged on dirty they do double dirty, in a petulant childish way. It may play to a few numpties but it entrenches the toxicity of any association or perceived association with WO.

They seem proud to reinforce being seen as New Zealand’s political lepers (apologies to people suffering from leprosy, diseases are not deliberate).
