From the Herald, would be willing to bet the majority of these funds go to the better working conditions for staff.
Auckland Council to save $117 million by selling seven buildings. The council says the proceeds from the sale will be “ring-fenced” to provide better services for the public and better working conditions for staff.

This crap didn’t happen during my time at school. And I went to a very rough secondary school with many dysfunctional kids. Oh, I tell a lie. One pupil tried his luck by punching an elderly teacher in the face. The pupil was removed to the boys toilet by the prefects and ‘bashed.’ He was then given to the principal who expelled him.

Simple stuff. So why do we have this situation nowadays of teachers suffering abuse and assault? Simple stuff again…no corporal punishment. Limp wrist punishments. NO CHARTER SCHOOLS?

And..what’s in the water at Christchurch? Linwood in particular. That suburb seems to produce many a cretin.

  3. Goose and Gander analogies? When Rt Hon David Parker does it it’s okay, but don’t dare call out Ardern.

“JUDITH COLLINS (National—Papakura): There is no sadder member of Parliament today than the Hon Shane Jones. We heard him just tell us how happy he is, and he couldn’t even crack a smile. He couldn’t even crack a smile because he knows—

David Parker: I bet it’s not Botox.

    Chris Hipkins: Ha, ha!

JUDITH COLLINS: —he let down the people who put faith in him and in his leader to at least keep some semblance of sense with the Labour-led Government. Actually, they have been deeply disappointed. David Parker might find it very funny that people will lose their jobs in Taranaki and elsewhere in New Zealand, and apparently they’re all going to be trained, they say, in engineering. Well, what the hell for—what the hell for? What’s this infrastructure going to be for when people won’t be there any more? Taranaki has one of the highest levels of income in the country and they’re just taking it away. They’re saying here that Taranaki also, in the oil and gas industry, pays double what is the average wage in New Zealand. It is one of the highest earning sectors in New Zealand, and yet this Labour – Greens – New Zealand First Government wants to take that away. ”

I was thinking that it looks much longer and fuller than it usually does when it straggles around her face with the curls falling out. She looks much better and more professional with it back, the teenage long loose hair isn’t a good look when it’s messy.

Well, ok, North Welly had an excellent Summer under this Labour-led coalition.
But it looks like they under-budgeted weatherwise and their idea of an Autumn hasn’t been much to write home about. :/

National did nothing on the housing front , Lurchy. However, that wont save Labour at the next election. They are gone. They just don’t realise that..yet.

Not a given with Bridges The Wimp at the helm at this point in time.

May end up with a lot of snippy folk not voting and they could just scrape back in because people have got so sick of National’s endless whining & have finally warmed to Jonesy’s poumpous wombling becos the regions have begun to see some benefit from that regional development fund?

Budget tomorrow. I’m sure there’ll be plenty to embarrass the government over, and I’m really looking forward to the polls post-budget. But they’ve got 2 & 1/2 years to learn on the job. Even Twyford and Clark might grow up a little& develop some working synapses in that time.

Has anyone else had any YNZs going into ‘junk’ ? I have just found one in mine, as well as others from longterm senders and whose emails are in the inbox while others are in ‘junk’

I don’t have my ID set up to get emails when someone replies to a post. Didn’t seem worth it once any non-voters stopped replying & pretended I wasn’t there. I just go by the little orange dot top right next to my WordPress avatar that appears when some foolish victim attempts to challenge me.

I once had emails appearing for replies, but managed to disable it. I don’t know why it was doing it in the first place, The one in Junk was an actual new YNZ. MSN do this from time to time, and very annoying it is. They put mail from senders who have been sending emails for years, in some cases, and decide that they’re junk, the blasted busybodies. As there were suddenly 31 in the Junk, I looked. MSN are plonkers.

Surely it’s always been expected that people don’t just walk in 9 and drop everything at 5 in shops (or any other workplace) I have never expected to be paid for the few minutes that I was at the workplace before I actually began !

      What’s prompted this comment?

Depends what you’re expected to do, whether it’s actually mahi for the employer, and whether you’re doing it on the clock.

Your lawyers will charge you every 10 minutes including the time spent having a think about how much to charge you.

When I was a supermarket employee as a school student you clocked on and clocked off when you got there. They were quick to dock you if you were late but didn’t pay you for time worked after knock-off time, because there were customers still waiting to be served.

But we never kicked customers out at closing time, of course. That’d kill the business & your job quick smart.

The manager of that supermarket when I was there (mum worked there too & got me the job) got sacked when the owner came in & found him pillaging the store with rellies for supplies for his daughter’s weddding reception. Pakeha.

When I worked in shops we were expected to be there a few minutes before the shop opened. Usually the customers buggered off before closing, but sometimes an awkward one came in at 4.59. If someone was slow cashing up, one palmed the customer onto them.

Some people expected the shop doors to open again, which is NOT reasonable.
