I have christened the hanging clay bird feedhouse by smacking my head into it once already. It appears to have suffered no critical damage.

Oh no a clay bird feeder.
“Good bird feeders are made from plastic, steel or glass (because they’re easier to clean than wood or clay).”

Some suggestion that mixing of bird population at feeders vis wild they are apart contributes to higher incidence of disease.

Actually that’s quite interesting & worth remembering.

Might not be a problem if Miss Bossyboots here gets there first all the time. >:D

Up here in TTT there has been an epidemic of mites dropping from Sparrows and infesting the garden variety chickens and roosters … they fall from the sparrows in the sky. I had Never heard of this one before butt they are hard to get rid of. Birds have some serious diseases according to wiki with salmonella being the most common.

Another difference between Pickles & Jojo’s development, I noticed yesterday and have confirmed this morning, is that Jojo’s beak has started to turn red – but starting at the tip and spreading UP her beak towards her plate.

This what I recorded for Pickles:
Also, his head-plate, just over the past week, has now turned a brownish-red, & that colour-change is daily moving further down his beak towards the tip. Wondering how long now before they both turn bright red.

Sparrers had salmonella years ago and their numbers were decimated, but they pulled their socks up and their knickers down and recovered, There’s nothing we can do about it, nature has a way of sorting these things out.

Two ! wood pigeons were here again. They are becoming regular visitors. There are pooklings down the road.

A pooklet is a baby one
          A pookling is a teenager – yes o_O ?

Well, half-sized. I think that there are pooklets, some of the little ones look very dark.

How can I stop replies appearing as pop-ups (for want of a better word) while keeping the orange dot ?

Got very huffy when I told her what people have been saying about sparrers having lots of mites.

Dunno re the WordPress issue. Have you tried a google query?

              1. Click on your avatar next to the bell.
              2. Click on “Notification settings”

              3. If it says:

              “Browser Notifications ENABLED

              4. Report back?

I did that and it worked; I had thought that it was stopping the orange button, as for a while the orange button was not showing replies.

I am surprised that mites are supposedly falling from the sky as they are surely too light for this. I think that they just do as other mites do.

Yes, I can see a rather disdainful look and a curled beak. If she wasn’t a lady, she’d be giving you the wing feather.
