Let’s keep school cross country going and bring back bull rush…too may fat unmotivated children out there.

       /  May 22, 2018

I used to be a soft lollie eating middle class kid, Lurchy. Bullrush hardened me up. A daily beating does wonders for your physical and mental ”staying power.”

         /  May 22, 2018

It can’t do much good for the mental power if the person’s so stupid that they keep doing whatever will make them be beaten.- unless they’re a masochist and get off on violence and pain.

Thank goodness there were no beatings at any school I attended. There were occasional strappings, but nothing that resembled a beating.

          It’s called Bullrush.

            That’s what I was thinking.

Well, obviously. But then you went and posted it as well. That’s the bit that puzzles us.

Puzzle not. It’s all to do with column placement.

We played bullrush, but nobody was beaten for doing so, and we were not so devoid of originality that we played it every day.

A school that allowed staff to beat/assault a pupil every day should have been investigated. It would have been when I was at school.

”I come to you as a hologram.”

Yes, Prime Minister, we wish that was the case.

Our PM Jacinda Adern comes across with more substance than the tempory leader of the opposition Simon Bridges who is having a meeting soon here in North Wellington as no one knows who he is and voters struggle to understand what he says

        • Corky

           /  May 22, 2018

Relax, Lurchy. Bridges is just a hologram run by Crusher Collins. When the time is right she’ll hit the off switch.

        • High Flying Duck

           /  May 22, 2018

Did you find out about her substance from Women’s Weekly or Woman’s Day? Or was it the thoughtful essay in Vogue that convinced you?
Perhaps the in-depth interview in the UK about being pregnant?

      • duperez

         /  May 22, 2018

My goal is to be substantial enough to be a hologram which attracts so much attention that well beyond the realms of the light and moment people comment. Oh, to have such substance! 😊

    Worth Watching

    • Gezza

       /  May 22, 2018

2 hours! Well, I watched 95% of that – or had it going on the iPad while I did other things. Standout in that would be Steven Fry, I reckon. Who would’ve thought, when push came to shove, that Jordy Peterson would turn out to be such a whiny little snowflake?

      • Kitty Catkin

         /  May 22, 2018

What a nice picture of a square face with a frown.

      • sorethumb

         /  May 22, 2018

I could follow Jordan Peterson.Dyson (on the other hand) seemed to have rhetorical arguments. Peterson and Fry won on votes (whatever that means), I think though that Dyson can’t win unless you accept his post modernist precepts.

Cross country running. Apparently many kids don’t like it. I wonder if that’s because it demands individual effort with no outside help?. And no certificates for trying?

I little like life. Sometimes it’s boring and a hard slog. But it must be endured. Ah, there’s the problem: little snowflakes can’t do hard anymore.

Simon’s just no match at all for Jacinda. Another Andrew Little. Can’t think on his feet. Just reads off the next supplementary on his list, unaware she’s just trampled all over his last question & chucked it in wastepaper basket.

Grant under no pressure at all over his Budget. It’s all seemingly gone down well with the Financial Institutions that count, & The Guardian. Clearly it is impossible to provide for every promise made this fiscal year due to the scale of what appears to be serious under-funding everywhere under the English administration. o_O

What’s going on with Nikki Kaye & that black dress with the vampire sleeves again? Is she going for the Stevie Nicks look? National did well not to pick her as leader or deputy. Very underwhelming in Opposition.

             /  May 22, 2018

Ardern is a grumpy foul tempered fould faced old boot. Bridges asks a question and she is off ranting and raving about anything and everything unrelated to the question as if its some personal slight against her then hurrumphs into her seat with pursed lips and that hand gesture over her face. She seems to be winning but a little outraged she has to lower herself to answer questions, pretty undignified performance really.

            • Gezza

               /  May 22, 2018

She can’t help enjoying herself. She knows he’s already silently reading out his next supplementary question to himself (to make sure he doesn’t make a mistake when he asks it), that he’s not even actually listening to her answer & that if she just rattled off a recipe for a banana cake he wouldn’t notice.

How long do you reckon he’s got in that job? Poor bugger.

Gezza I dont think she is enjoying it but I agree she swats him away. I think National have realized there is little point in putting any effort into question time because its literally the Trevor show, its also a terrible look to badger and climb into a pregnant woman..imagine the optics of him having a crack and her wincing and clenching her bump.
I am thinking he is being smart and cautious and putting his efforts into his what seems to be well attended tour.

            • Kitty Catkin

               /  May 22, 2018

I think that she’d clasp her bump rather than clenching it.

There is a school of thought that this baby was not the surprise that it was made out to be as far as timing went.

            • Gezza

               /  May 22, 2018

Gezza I dont think she is enjoying it …
Au contraire, I am not phooled by her faux outrage: she grins like the Cheshire Cat when she’s sat down again.

its also a terrible look to badger and climb into a pregnant woman..imagine the optics of him having a crack and her wincing and clenching her bump.
Crikey David. You really are struggling for excuses now. She ain’t no shrinkng violet, & she’s never given any indication of an intention to invoke a pathetic “don’t be nasty, you’ll hurt my baby” defence

I wish that she wouldn’t grimace and shake or nod her head all the time. Most annoying and distracting.

Andrew Little’s 3 Strikes abolition isn’t too popular with the family of the girl who was beaten to death by her partner and who would have been ‘out’ if Mr Little hadn’t done this. Well done, Andrew.

    • Corky

       /  May 22, 2018

No, Lurchy. Time for Labour to worry. Petrol is up to $ 2.30 a litre in some areas. Once petrol tax hits for Aucklanders and prices for diesel and transport go through the roof, Labour are history. Dust off your skateboard with a sail on it, Lurchy.

Yes its all labours fault, you can tell they were scared of”CRUSHER” when she thought of picking up a stick so,9 years of national have made them used to ripping NZ off ,labour might be different, with a profit freeze

Yep and where will you get your feed stock from? The stuff to feed the refinery? Venezuela?

And whose tankers will you use to bring it here?

Which insurance company will carry the risk for the blue water transportation?

You saying she cannot get a tattoo of her liking on her chin?

Did not realise freedom had been curtailed that much in the lurcher’s socialist paradise.

Bet no one said the same to Mike Tyson when he got his facial Maori tattoo.

      You being sexist?

People DID say plenty of things when Mike Tyson had a moko done.

People who use Uncle Tom in that way have never read the book and seen what he was really like.
