    M. Bovis reminds me of pike river: I thought we were better managers than that?

You think we have better managers than that?
Then what happened to Fletchers Group, F&P, Pumpkin Patch, Nuplex, numerous Finance Co’s, PGG Wrightson, etc, etc. Stars that burned brightly then burned out or lost and eroded by overseas ownership.
The Executive meeting rooms of this country are full of self-entitled old boys and consumate self-promoters. Selection on true merit and expertise is woefully lacking.

I noticed that the whole ‘Meth/P contamination debacle’ only got a passing mention. Methinks that there should be a public enquiry, into what appears to be deliberate disinfo. & an attack on the residents in state houses, by the previous Govt.!

To quote a few lines from RNZ report :

‘The debate over the danger of methamphetamine contamination was settled once and for all this week – when the country’s top scientist revealed it was nothing more than hysteria.’

‘Sir Peter Gluckman’s report found New Zealand that has been in the grips of a moral meth panic – and there’s no health risk whatsoever from meth residue.’

‘There was not one single case on the planet of anyone, ever, having become sick from third-hand exposure to meth residues.’

    What say you Paula ?
    >$100mil spent on your ‘testing & decontamination’ regime !

They are not State Houses they have always been taxpayer funded alternate dwellings.

@sorethumb yes pike river and m bovis have similarities, the “free market” doesn’t self regulate. Without “management” business will cut corners but expect the taxpayer to cover the costs. Capitalise the profits and socialise the loses.

And, in the process, neither human nor animal life matters …
