Q+A – interview with Jacinda Ardern

Ardern says they ‘will be’ the transformative government they promised.

It’s mostly a fairly general discussion with little of note revealed.

Ardern says that if a Labour Minister scandal comes up while Peters is acting PM she will handle any own party discipline.

  1. Dann is also covering the Singapore talks between Trump and Kim, but talking about it before it has happened seems a bit like pointless pontificating.

I met a Canadian liberal. He said: “I Like your Prime Minister; she’s having a baby” (as one sentence).

You are disputing the accuracy of his statement?

I gotta go down the road to ma’s. She can’t get the back of her tv remote and insists it’s stuck fast there must be something wrong with it. Also she says her spare two AA batteries are 10 years old – will they still work?
          She’s 91. What can ya do? 😕
          Back later. Behave yourself.

‘When stored at room temperature (i.e. 70°F/ 21°C), cylindrical alkaline batteries have a shelf life of 5 to 10 years and cylindrical carbon zinc 3 to 5 years. Lithium Cylindrical types can be stored from 10 to 15 years. Prolonged storage at elevated temperatures will shorten storage life.Sep 24, 2016’

Ma 👵🏼 needed to push down & out on the little round depression. Batteries replaced. Ma passed the battery hatch removal practical test, so is now fully qualified to use tv remote again. 👏🏼 All good. 👍🏼

Ardern: “Open & transparent govt” – reality: less open & transparent than the previous govt.
Ardern: “Relentless positivity” – reality: not very positive, instead become arrogant in only 6 months when most govts take at least 6 years.
Ardern: “Absolutely” – reality: not at all.
Ardern: “Happily look into allegations of sexual assault” – reality: Bury the story and hush up the alleged victims.

Ardern: “Let’s do this!” – reality: Let’s not do this!

Surely someone else in the Labour party could have done what Ardern had in the face of previous scandals? – nothing.

Jacinda tries to make it sound like they were ‘elected’ on the basis of their platform which included an end to petroleum exploration when in fact both Labour and the Greens FAILED to get elected on their policies and only came to government through the three-way unholy alliance. Two (or three) amalgamated fails does not add up to a mandate.

    This is MMP in action.
