Ha the Greens signed off on a Chinese water bottling plant, that is hilarious.
What is the point of being in government for them, basically the fishing industry has been granted every opportunity to go crazy and sanctuaries sunk while voting for the waka jumping bill. The only thing the Greens have got is a bit more green to line their personal bank accounts.

    MIKEY SAYS:

Well, not much. He gave Jonsey the floor and allowed Jonsey to show his shallow thinking and ego. Jonesy was stumped when Mikey asked him about many small producers competing on the international market should Fonterra be restructured.

However, Mikey does agree with him to a certain degree.

I was watching the 2nd reading of Ms Logie’s (green) bill on Domestic Violence, last evening & was frankly outraged at a comment from M Mitchell (Natl) who said (paraphrased) that he, as Cop for over a decade, had seen a lot of this & worked to prevent it. He then stated ‘most of the problems, he saw was from ‘Rastafarians’ & other illegal drug users’ (check hansard if you dont believe me)
This is TOTAL B-S (from a prohibitionist/job protection racketeer) The majority of ‘drug related domestic violence’ is, by far attributed to ALCOHOL, not Cannabis

I doubt that many ‘stoners’ go home & beat up their wives/partners.. more likely just watch TV.. get the munchies & crash out !

‘The REEFER MADNESS’, & Lies continue, here in Aotearoa/NZ.. by those who still benefit from it. a MP/ex-Cop said it.. it must be true. “wake up” sez I

Its all part of their agenda to maintain Status Quo only !! 😦

    Question Time

Q3 – David Bennett is rather thick. Kelvin Davis beat him hands down.

Q4 – Nikki Kaye to Kelvin Davis. He answered in Maori. Many members had misplaced their their earpieces. After that it got fractious over whether Davis has any responsibility for achievement of Maori pupils in Partnership Schools.

Answering in Maori makes Kelvin D look like a showoff who’s trying to put someone at a disadvantage; a cheap shot, really, and one that achieves nothing.

Well, I like it, except it should probably be Sledging Everyone. But I’m afraid I can only add to his name the titles he is graciously awarded by either himself or his leader.

Serving Everyone goes with the Champion part.

I can’t think of a word that goes with Sledging, but there probably is one.

Fascinating when the Speaker cut the audio at 11.07 when Nikki asked about Kelvin’s conflict of interest with Partnership Schools. I wondered if it would be there on the YouTube video & it is.

the most promising National M.P’s to my eye are Nicola Willis and Mark Mitchell.
Not a fan of Mitchell’s position on most things, but he appears to be cultivating popular appeal.
Willis is new but I’m impressed by her presentation and she actually seems quite reasonable.
David Bennett is a tryhard RWNJ.

Are being ‘promising’ and cultivating popular appeal simply guides to political durability and possibilities? In other words playing the game politics, not a mark of intellect or reasonableness.

I guess so,but I contrast that with the Bennetts of the world who are just unlikeable.Bridges is failing miserably imo.Apart from the fact he squeaks, he walks right into quicksand that he should be aware of.e.g prison policy, the housing ‘crisis’.
Not sure the general public has much time for ..intellect.

I personally do not like Mitchell. My comment is an assessment of his political skills so far…i.e he is building an appealing profile for right wing voters .

Interesting watching Mitchell questioning Mr Little on definitions of ‘low level crime’; he answered by referring to a recent case, when a prisoner was charged with ‘sexual assault’ for pinching a prison officer on the A. The charge potentially could have seen a SEVEN YEAR prison term imposed.. the Judge refused to do so. Mr Little said he agreed this was an example of ‘low level non-violent crime’

Methinks Mitchell came from the ‘old school of ZERO-TOLERANCE policing’ which appears to see ALL ‘Crims’ in the same light, from ‘pot-smokers to murderers’ ?!
‘LOCK ‘EM ALL UP !!’ 😦

Mitchell showed his inexperience – came across as rather dim. Not sharp enuf thinking on his feet yet.

Little & Davis are nevertheless doing an appalling job of failing to define exactly what they mean by “low level offenders / crime”, “street crime” and “non-serious offending”. How incredibly stupid of the pair of them that they have settled on these vague terms to justify their not having any actual plan yet to deal with offending, incarceration rates & prison capacity issues – and to be unable to even specify what types of offence they are talking about. They should both be able to rattle those off. Plonkers.

Little mentioned the prison officer having her bottom pinched, which technically constituted a 3rd strike offence. FFS. Everybody knows that case. The perp in that case wasn’t in prison for “low level offending”. Little remains as thick as two short planks, in my view. A dull plodder, incapable of original thought, too used to being told what to think & do by others, & probably actually only really capable of that.

Davis mentioned a remand prisoner in the slammer for stealing a $1000 smartphone (shoplifted, he later said). Nobody even asked him what other offences had the perp committed? If this is the 6th time he’s done this, after warnings, for example, that’s another matter than if he just got chucked in the slammer for a first offence. Nobody in the Opposition even followed up with the obvious question!

The so-called pinch on the bum was a disgusting grope that couned as a sexual assault. It’s been minimised for some reason. Had it been a pinch, that would have been annoying and intrusive, but a grope is far more intrusive. Nobody should get away with putting their hands between another person’s legs.

From memory I think even the prison officer pinched on the bum said she didn’t think it warranted a seven year stretch?

I’ve not seen anything of him saying hateful things about Jews or Blacks, his issue from what I’ve seen has been with UK’s tolerance of anti-British Muslim extremists & Muslim grooming/rapist gangs.

Can you please post any credible links to his attacking anything other than those last two I mention, because I think you’re doing fake news yourself.

I found it interesting that 1ewes at 6 put a negative slant on two political news items that were prominently featured tonight.

    1. Was a shock horror approach taken to Kelvin Davis’s statement that if necessary a shortage of beds for prisoners could be dealt with by prisoners sleeping on mattresses in the prison gymnasium.

    2. Was an item featuring the heavily pregnant PM repeatedly stating that Steve Jones saying the chairman of Fontera should quit was a remark made in a personal capacity only & was nothing to do with her because it is not government policy. “… and that’s the end of it”. I think they showed her saying that was the end of the matter on 3 separate occasions – to drive home their point that he is a Minister in Winston’s – sorry her – government, he can’t suddenly pretend he is a Minister sometimes and sometimes he isn’t, & to show she was trying to sqirm her way out of giving him a smack, & they weren’t going to just let it go.
