There are two subjects that attract professional skeptics like flies to horseshit.

    1- Homeopathy.

    2- Vitamin C.

However, researchers are now investigating the effects of vitamin C on patients with septic shock in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Christchurch Hospital. This follows similar successful trials overseas that cut morality rates by 80%.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/104568411/vitamin-c-could-revolutionise-treatment-of-sepsis-in-intensive-care-patients

There’s no need for these trials to proceed. Holistic medical doctors have been trialling VC for years with success. It’s just most doctors can’t get their heads around the fact a simple vitamin could save millions of lives every year.

    Here’s one example:

Dr Archie Kalokerinos drastically cut the infant mortality rate for Aborigine children by using VC.

    https://www.smh.com.au/national/doctor-prevented-infant-mortality-20120316-1vaj6.html

The good thing about the NZ trial is they are concentrating on VCs most important role; tackling life threatening infections, and not the more contentious issue of curing cancer.

The questionable part is this trail is not using enough VC and only looking at VC as an adjunct to more conventional medicines. There’s nothing wrong with that. But at higher doses VC can out perform conventional medicines. This leads me to worry the trial could be set up to fail. Lets hope not. With antibiotics failing, many lives are currently endangered.

Police are warning businesses and people on social media to limit who they trust with financial information, as fraudsters increasingly lurk online.

More lawyers, accountants and chief financial officers were embezzling funds from company accounts, he said. Such people were in positions of power and felt they could get away with it, Financial Crime Unit Detective Sergeant Michael Cartwright says. The offenders were often involved in gambling.

You have ticked three boxes for me, Lurchy. The difference is I’m not an angry person. Just look at Mikey and other Righties. They embrace life and are light hearted. Now consider Angry Andy, Trev Mallard, teacher unions and beneficiaries…sad, bad and definitely not glad!! It’s all about attitude…and unfortunately, upbringing.

I assume that you were not prepared to pay more tax than you had to,

IRD has lists of what can be written off against tax, Why should people not do this, which is legal ?

You seem obsessed with rich people; could it be envy ? It sounds like it.

Those rich people’s tax pays your pension.

Surely Labour should put Kelvin out of his misery and make Grant Robertson the official deputy leader. It is obvious he is the deputy in all but name anyway.

He’s right though, isn’t he? Whatever talents Kelvin has clearly they don’t include the ability to actually be the deputy leader of the Labour Party. Even though he has that job, it requires him to competently fill in for the leader, and he simply can’t do that. He knows it and everyone else does to. Inside and outside of the party.

Just seen Peter Dunn on TV. Damn that man is going to suffer once the phone stops ringing. The phone has stopped ringing for Don Brash.

I doubt if it has.You forget that he is intenationally respected and has been sent for to advise on his field in many countries, including the US.

Kitty has a point – Dunne manages to project an experienced elder statesman/professional politician image & will no doubt be able to milk his time in Parliament quite well for some time. Brash muffed being the leader of National, had a very publicly messy affair (or something like that), and got mud thrown at him for annoying some Maori folk, & there’s not a lot of people wanting advice on how to do these things.

The ‘affair’ was gossiped about, nobody ever seemed to have anything that was like proof. Enter rumour, painted full of tongues.

He has often been called to advise and flown to various places in the world to share his expertise, even Washington. He just doesn’t broadcast these things, he’s too much of a gentleman and doesn’t need to seek publicity, anyway.

Peter Dunne is not in the same league when it comes to intellect; who would ring him and ask him to fly to the US to advise on economics ? Nobody, Think of Don B’s background before he went into politics.

He didn’t muff being leader at all. He is one of NZ’s greatests intellects. Peter Dunne ? There’s no comparison.

Yeah I dunno much about the affair thing – I wasn’t that interested in Brash as a politician. He was ok as Reserve Bank Governor from most accounts but he wasn’t going to lead National to a win as National Party leader: that’s why he got the push in favour of a smart-arse, good-at-bullshitting multi-millionaire financier who’d sell everything he could could get away with to anyone with the money to buy it – but at least had the smarts to make sure the government retained majority ownership and could get a small dividend out of the enterprises – unless they went belly up like Solid Energy.

Peter Dunne as far as I’m concerned is a plonker but like I say, he sells himself well as an experienced professional Minister for Hire.

He’s a traitor to the New Zealand people. If I had my way he would be convicted and jailed.
