Well so much for the silly season of summer, tomorrow the cabinet are meeting at Chequers for yet another Brexit meeting. It has been reported that May intends to present a third option to take to the EU on a deal for post Brexit, but many are unhappy with it. The so-called third way for Brexit is reportedly the brainchild of her adviser Ollie Robbins – who is a staunch Remainer – and would effectively keep the UK in the EU in all but name only. The third way for Brexit put forward by May will mean the UK keep full regulatory alignment with the EU, essentially remaining part of the Single Market and Customs Union with the likelihood of having to remain under the jurisdiction of the ECJ and possibly even having to keep Freedom of Movement. It is seen as a betrayal of Brexit by those that voted Leave, and has those that voted Remain asking why bother leaving at all.

What has also upset some is that May has been in Germany meeting with Merkel today, and it has come out that May showed Merkel her third way option for approval before taking it to the Cabinet. If this is true then that will be seen by many as Merkel running the EU and controlling the negotiations, and it just increases the comparisons of May to Chamberlain.

This may be the undoing of May – despite hearing this before – as allegedly 7 members of the Cabinet have met with Boris Johnson at the FCO tonight, possibly to plot a strategy to push May into leaving with the maximum facilitation option, whereby they employ a trusted trader status with the EU. It is widely believed that if this does not get through the Cabinet meeting, and there is a push for May’s third way, then there may be a leadership challenge before the end of summer.

All I can say is watch this space, tomorrow afternoon will be very interesting.

And here I thought the country stopped for the football world cup!!

It will be interesting how this plays out, it will be difficult for the EU to stop the flow after years of essentially facilitating it through policies implemented.

This is an issue that has been bubbling for a while, but it looks like this summer will be when it boils over, and either the EU will get tough or it may spell the beginning of the end for the EU as a number of countries are in open rebellion to Brussels and there is increasing talk of others taking the UK lead and holding a referendum on membership – Sweden was the first to suggest this a few weeks back.

Obviously the impact of free movement between EU countries & the degree to which they would end up effecting ceding their sovereignty to Brussels was never envisaged when they signed up. If they’d known they would end up being told they have to accept tens of thousands of Middle Eastern Muslims & illegal migrants from poor countries in Africa how many would joined the EU?

Think of the Australian angst over immigrants who were using NZ as a stopover to get to Australia under our CER open borders policy, and the changes they had to make to put a stop to it which have effectively turned NZers in Aussie into no-mans land residents with restricted rights.
Europe is that issue times 28 and with worse immigration issues. It can only end badly – especially when you have had blinkered ideologues like Merkel throwing open the doors without considering the consequences.

On Saturday a couple in their 40’s fell seriously ill in Amesbury near Salisbury, the reports stated that the woman was seen foaming at the mouth. It was initially thought that they had been using heroin or crack cocaine from a contaminated batch, but tests ruled this out, and yesterday it was confirmed that further tests showed they had been exposed to Novichok.

Two locations in Amesbury and further locations in Salisbury have been cordoned off for the investigation and decontamination. These are new locations in addition to those cordoned off in March after the Skripals were poisoned. It is unknown how the latest victims became poisoned from it, but it is not thought that it is a new attack as such but rather they ingested something that had some residual poison from the March attack.

the number of locations in Amesbury I mentioned came from the news at 6pm on the radio, this may have been incorrect. The BBC are reporting a total of six locations in Amesbury and Salisbury, but no breakdown of the number in each town.

Unlikely. Blowing up a blimp isn’t same thing as blowing up an Embassy.

Thai cave rescue … damn, a tragedy already …

“Thai authorities say a former navy SEAL working to rescue 12 boys trapped in a cave has died from lack of oxygen.

SEAL commander Arpakorn Yookongkaew told a news conference today the rescuer was working in a volunteer capacity and died during an overnight mission in which he was placing oxygen canisters.

The name of the diver has been revealed as Samarn Kunan, 38. He died due to lack of air when attempting to return to a command centre.”

If I was the coach I would be panicking at this stage re criminal charges.. Although coach probably won’t be told of this tragedy until they are rescued to save panic…that’s if they are ever rescued.
