How surprising when a Labour government is in charge; endless strikes. Nobody would have seen THAT coming.

            • Temper, temper.

You decided that as my income came from a widow’s benefit ( even though this no longer exists and hasn’t for years) that I couldn’t have insurance (which is also untrue and is nothing to do with you, anyway) You implied that I had never had a husband and other grossly impertinent and intrusive things. You were so offensive that you were barred for some time.

You might like to follow your own advice.

Obviously EV’s have a very long way to go if even this government cannot justify the costs involved, and tests have shown the current diesel BMW’s are more efficient that the EV counterparts…

“Even with cheaper running costs, the investment is presently hard to justify for most EVs in the market.”

The briefing noted there would be “significant difficulty” in transitioning to EVs as they cost more to buy, partly due to the limited variety available.

EVs are particularly expensive in New Zealand, with Europe’s top-selling model, the Renault Zoe, costing an extra $20,000 to $30,000 here.

It could also be hugely expensive for organisations with large numbers of cars to install the charging infrastructure, which could require upgrades to equipment such as network transformers and cost between $10,000-15,000 per EV.

…the trial, which took place across the country, resulted in the hybrid BMW failing to impress enough to be considered as a replacement for the diesel version.

The main problem was a lack of range, although strangely the diesel version was more fuel efficient than the hybrid when tested and more cost efficient to run.

The BMW EV Auckland to Wellington trial sounds good until you realise that there are not enough charging stations in rural regions to cater for a vastly expanded EV fleet.

If each recharge takes 30 minutes it means if you are 4th in the queue, your wait is 2 hours. With four charges required between Auckland and Wellington it could go quickly or very slowly depending who is in front of you at the recharging station.

“That said, the quick proliferation of fast charging stations is making this less likely, but that also fuels the wider adoption of EVs, meaning your chances of finding a Nissan Leaf at the charging station will also be higher.

A single day run from Auckland to Wellington is do-able and the first three quarters or so will be a great adventure.

The rest, like my experience, may well be an uncomfortable blend of brief anxiety and sheer boredom”.

its one factor Al.but not the main one.

‘Red tape is only one of the reasons why houses cost so much in this country, but it’s a significant one. Master Builders CEO David Kelly quotes an estimate he’s heard that consenting makes up 20 per cent of the cost of a house build.’

Yes, it IS incredible how many intelligent people think Jaweh was real and is God,

& that all the myths & nonsense about a very foolish supreme being who kept giving weird science & ongoing silly instructions & rules to odd individuals among very ignorant people in the dim distant past in Mesopotamia & the Middle East, who continually ignored them, and still do –

& then supposedly sacrificed himself to himself & resurrected himself to atone for the sins of the very two first humans he created, & of all those who followed & will follow in the future,

so that others will thereafter believe that he suddenly changed character completely (but didn’t tell Jesus to cancel out any of the previous 600 odd commandments to the Israelites, his chosen people)

& did magic, & left absolutely no reliable evidence of any of it, nor gave any reason why none of that stuff is still happening at all,

& just wants to be worshipped eternally,

but if ANYBODY wants to start off by believing in the Jewish, Christian or Muslim version of the Abrahamic god it – they will go to the most extraordinary lengths to ignore all the evidence which shows the scriptures are nonsensical & unverifiable, & thar their God is not good, & that many humans are far more moral & good than Jaweh, to find or invent SOMETHING, anything that they can then say – “Ha! There! This proves Jesus was real & he was resurrected!” Or whatever.

And never it proves any of it. At all.

”A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within.”

    Marcus Tullius Cicero.

This has been my position regarding Islam all along. I believe there are many Western leaders who should be charged with treason and given the ultimate sentence a state can impose.

      • It is also a good idea to verify that a quote is genuine before you quote it. This one is taken from one cobbled together from Cicero’s words taken out of context at best, at worst a complete fake. It is obviously not his sentiments and I would challenge you to find any reputable classicist who would accept it as genuine.

‘A little learning is a dang’rous thing/Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian Spring/There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain/And drinking largely sobers us again.’ Pope.

It (the Cicero) is part of a much longer one that is frequently quoted by people who haven’t read the classics and used to justify their own views.

Pope said of someone like you that they had ‘a brain of feathers and a heart of lead.’

I don’t know what my beliefs have to do with what I posted above. But they say truth hurts. Maybe you could talk to your Muslim doctor about what I have posted and prove me wrong. Perhaps you could invite him/her to do a guest post. I’m sure Pete would be more than happy to allow that.

”It (the Cicero) is part of a much longer one that is frequently quoted by people who haven’t read the classics and used to justify their own views.”

Correct. I didn’t want to tax your facade about being well educated. Anyone with an IQ over 130 knows you are a pretender. Even those with that IQ who haven’t studied the classics.

        • Your beliefs are what you think and believe generally, and have nothing to do with religion as your statement about them implies. It means views and ideas Don’t try to backpedal and bluff your way out of that. If you don’t believe what you say, why do you bother to say it ? Why say that your position has been this all along if this is untrue ?

The saying that the truth hurts applies to you in one way, but nothing that you say will ever hurt anyone with its truth,

If you knew that the Cicero quote was bogus, why quote it ? Why use it to reinforce your own views ? If you were aware that it wasn’t genuine, this seems very odd indeed; anothe example of backpedalling when you are exposed as an ignoramus by someone who knows the real thing.

It was hardly a tax to the intellect to recognise a well-known fake classical quote which has yet to be found in any of Cicero’s actual writings. It’s like the fake Socrates one about the youth of today.

You cannot be serious in wanting any Muslim to come here and be insulted by your bigoted and ignorant views. I will not ask any of the Muslims I know to do that. What on earth do you take people for ?
