Is this really a thing Stuff
5:00 AM Women underrepresented behind camera in NZ’s film industry. Are quotas the answer?
There are industries where different genders are over represented, so what, does it matter and if so why. Men and women like doing different things, men and women do better at different forms of work, men and women are different…but apparently the reason why this is an offensive headline is that gender is just a social construct and its transphopic.

What are we going to do about nursing, early childcare & primary school teaching, caregiving, beauty therapists, midwifery, librarians and so on. Are we going to have to demand some of the women employed in these occupations resign & become cMera operators & leave their old positions unfilled until men step up & apply for these jobs?
Are we going to have to introduce conscription to get some gender balance?

This is an area where Jordan Peterson irritates the feminazis who constantly banging on about women not taking up jobs in certain industries stating or implying somehow men are locking them out, or that they are being conditioned from childhood to think women should do girl jobs or some such shit.

The research is showing everywhere that when given every opportunity of equality, and even encouraged, from school onwards, to take jobs that are predominantly filled by men, few do. They simply gravitate mostly to relationship-oriented occupations. And there’s nothing wrong with this! It’s just what they predominantly prefer! Law, Psychology, Medical profession, PR, Comms etc

He often cites the research from the Nordic states where equal treatment & equality of opportunity in employment has been most extensively promoted & legislated for the longest time, and women & girls have had the greatest choice in opportunity to pursue careers in areas like STEM fields, they are increasingly their moving AWAY from these occupations – in fact this trend is increasing.

Although there are plenty of women who are sctually involved in some of these these fields (I’ve seen lectures by female astonomers, for example, & lots of women attending physics conferences, heaps of female biologists, medical researchers, pharmacists – though few own their businesses) most of them just choose people-oriented employment fields and occupations.

And on average when surveyed they identify different objectives & priorities in life & job choices. We seem to have no shortage of females presenting or hosting in front of the camera, for example. Their priorities don’t usually match up with what strident feminists’ priorities are. Unless they’re strident feminists. In which case, there ya go. Be happy. You’re not completely alone.

Yes. I’ve worked with good women in science and computing but they are just very rare. Most go elsewhere or find niches in the softer human relationship areas.

I enjoy Peterson he is a fascinating fella and arguably the most mis represented person on earth at the moment. He is an inclusive lefty and scientist who uses scientific facts from the real observed and experienced world which is why he is such a threat.
He suffers all sorts of health and severe depression issues as does his daughter and they have both been on a fascinating journey with their diets and he is currently on a meat only diet..literally only meat. His health issues and his daughters have improved out of sight but its a crazy diet.

The Greens wany 70percent “diversity” on the female/male gender split.
Be a different #metoo when that happens.

I see Judith Collins is softening her headmistress persona. She has come out in support of teachers. Now, I shouldn’t be talking about this, because I promised not to. But, what the hell.
    No one is listening..lol.

    From yesterday:

”I will make a prediction. A new National government will be more accommodating to teachers and nurses in the future.”

To make that prediction 100% accurate, I will need Aunt Judith and National back in government. That is a strong possibility. I think ( I hope) National realises in their quest for good economic figures, they threw the baby out with the bath water.

Aw you know pollies offer the world and mellow their approach in opposition to return to their core philosophies when in Government. When they get back it will be bashing the teachers union and reintoducing charter schools to get non union teachers into the mix.

Well, that’s a possibility. But as I said:

” I think ( I hope) National realises in their quest for good economic figures, they threw the baby out with the bath water.”

”When they get back it will be bashing the teachers union and reintroducing charter schools to get non union teachers into the mix.”

Nothing wrong with that…provided National accept an honest appeal for a pay rise that is deserved.

Remember how we discussed that that is so uselessly vague it doesn’t qualify as a prediction?

        Yes. Hence this rejoinder:

”To make that prediction 100% accurate, I will need Aunt Judith and National back in government. ”

Oh, I beg your pardon. Now you have actually made a prediction. You are predicting that National will grant teachers the pay rise they request next time.
