  1. It’s COLD and it has been raining….I am trying to make myself venture out and feed the birds. What a miserable day. Heater on, doors and windows shut, a state of siege.

Nice and sunny here but all of us are weathering a nasty cold bug so resting up out of the chilly wind – light but penetrating.

      • It’s been a very mild winter indeed for most of the time, so this is a disagreeable surprise.Last week was mostly sunny and for much of the winter it’s been warm enough to wear long-sleeved t-shirts.

The wind that came through the open door was penetrating, too; a lazy wind, as the saying is. It goes through you, not around you.

Colds are vile. I’d pay good money for a cold vaccine. I had a horrible one a week or two ago. Aloe vera tissues are good, but don’t try flushing them down the loo, they won’t go. When I had a really bad one a couple of years ago, I remembered my mother cutting soft old nappies into squares (someone told her that these were good for red, raw noses, and they were, too) so I cut up two old soft cotton pillowcases. Bliss, much better than tissues, and it’s no trouble to wash them. I always use tissues, never hankies, but this was an extreme case 😀 and they weren’t going back into a pocket as germtraps. .

  2. My best known Beatles album:

I was a bit young for them in their day, but my older brother couldn’t afford to but this album, so he talked my sister and I to fork out for half of it.

It’s one of the few albums I listened to in the sixties.
