Ardern wants to shore up business confidence and her big idea she dreamt up on leave is another working group to advise on trade deals. If she thinks yet another working group to advise a government that NZ needs free trade deals despite having MFAT and some of the best trade negotiators on earth, one of our guys is in charge in the UK, then I think she should take another 6 weeks off.
A working group to advise Winston Peters and David Parker, 2 of the least likely people to take advise from anyone. Another gravy train and watch the appointments being people likely to appear in the papers as government critics, line their pockets and keep them quiet. She is being advised by Hulun.

“We said after the negotiations for the CPTPP that we were determined to avoid a future backlash against globalisation while delivering improvements in employment, in incomes, and trade is a key driver in that,” said Ardern

There was media generated hysteria and Labour went hard marching on the streets and all sorts of hyperbole, they stoked the flames then within 30 seconds of winning signed a near identical agreement that they had taken to the streets over.
National have always been bi partisan over trade deals because it benefits NZ, they wont turn it into a circus like Labour did and the Greens will abandon their principals when asked. Waste of my taxpayer money, fund cochlears instead or now that you have virtue signalled with your sign language guy you think you are the only one deaf people need to hear from.

TPPA is NOT a trade agreement.

Imagine ‘business confidence’ if Labour didn’t sign it.

We were assurred by pleasant but dim ,Tim,that all we need to do is give 6 months notice to withdraw should it turn out that we don’t like the deal.

I have no problem that they signed, there was absolutely zero chance that they wouldnt because they were always playing politics with it and the media fell hook line and sinker.
My beef is the utter waste of money on a working group which is really just a way of shutting down critics with my dollars, National did the same and gave 100s of thousands to Kelsey..both disgraceful acts.
There is never a downside to us signing trade deals as we have minimal barriers anyway and we are more export dependent than nearly every other developed country. Labour havent been in power for 9 months and they have run out of ideas and cant even implement their election promises, typical lefties all bumper sticker slogans and no idea how to implement or actually do anything.

you said…’we are more export dependent than nearly every other developed country.’

so now you concede you do not know what you’re talking about.

            • I took it to mean on a per capita basis, not in volume. If NZ sells $100 worth per capita and Japan sells $50 worth per capita, they will earn more overall, but our earnings will be be greater proportionally.

I have a question for you, Lurchy. How do you choose which media outlet will offend you for the day? Most of us are wired to indulge in things that give us pleasure – not pain and angst.

That reminds me..I must get down to Bunnings and pick up my new chains. Now that these dudes are paying a living wage of $20 per hour I hope prices haven’t skyrocketed.

A massive “rogue” planet with an unexplained “glow” has been seen drifting alone through space, scientists claim.

The planet, which is 12 times as large as Jupiter, sits around 20 light years away from Earth.

The rogue planet is the first object of its kind to be spotted using a radio telescope, according to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.

    • I hope that they give it a proper name, not something like CVZ592X.

Juno would be a nice name.

I read a description of Thackeray et al at the first meeting of what would become Punch; or The London Chariveri. The planet Uranus was discussed….causing the same sort of puerile mirth as it does now. Sigh.

How can Trump supporters still repeatedly chant “Lock Her Up” after she’s been investigated for 6 years and not a single crime was found, while everyone around the President is actually being “locked up”?

The liberal left are close to a tipping point…the point where every reasonable person wont tolerate their crap anymore. Even media may turn on them. That time isn’t yet, but we are on the home straight towards that typing point.

Of more interest to me is how these weasels will reinvent themselves once they realise everyone thinks they are prats. There’s nothing worse than someone who bales and says ” Yeah, I was for free speech all along.

Climate Change and the Green Party were a godsend for Marxists cut adrift in the 90’s.

But what comes next? What will young socialists learn to hate?

    Q-time.. welcome back Ms PM

Bridges tried ‘his little heart out’, to brow beat her on ‘lack of business confidence etc.’ BUT she just did not bite.. instead just talking up all the positive stuff; increased wages, lower unemployment since taking office (4.8-4.5% now), end of nurses pay negotiations, still projected 3+% GDP growth & much more 🙂

Natl just need to ‘get over their loss !’ 😀

Watching the committee of the house debating the ‘waka jumping bill’ I notice Natl are still playing the ‘silly party games’:

    1) amendments/SOP that are just plain ridiculous & ruled out of order (majority) wasting the time

    2) raising constant points of order, that are also often ‘ruled out of order’

    3) claiming that ‘The Govt. are not participating’ & only calling ‘closure motions’ (as they mostly also did for 9 loooong years) Short memory ?

    4) saying that Greens have ‘lack of courage’ because they are voting for it.. part of their C&S agreement/being in the Govt. 🙂

They seem to know the ‘cost of everything.. value of NOTHING’ but seem quite happy to waste the time/cost of the house.. time wasting (IMHO)

Alien mineral found in meteorite that crashed-down in Siberia 👽

Kamacite is an alloy commonly found in meteorites. In the case of a new discovery in Siberia, it was found to contain traces of a new mineral completely alien to science.
