Allen Weisselberg, Longtime Trump Organization CFO, Is Granted Immunity in Cohen Probe
Weisselberg earlier this year was subpoenaed to testify before grand jury

Allen Weisselberg, President Trump’s longtime financial gatekeeper, was granted immunity by federal prosecutors for providing information about Michael Cohen in the criminal investigation into hush-money payments for two women during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to people familiar with the matter.

Mr. Weisselberg, who is chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, was called to testify before a federal grand jury in the investigation earlier this year, The Wall Street Journal previously reported, citing people familiar with the investigation. He then spoke to investigators, though it isn’t clear whether he appeared before the grand jury.

The decision by prosecutors in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office to grant immunity to Mr. Weisselberg escalates the pressure on Mr. Trump, whom Mr. Weisselberg has served for decades as executive vice president as well as CFO for the Trump Organization. After Mr. Trump was elected, he handed control of his financial assets and business interests to his two adult sons and Mr. Weisselberg.

Mr. Weisselberg didn’t respond to a request for comment. A lawyer for Mr. Trump, who on Thursday said so-called flipping “almost ought to be illegal,” declined to comment.

A former US deputy attorney general said on Aljaz tv that it is illegal in the US for corporations to provide any campaign financing, that the Trump Organisation’s financial dealings are notoriously murky and difficult to “unentangle”, and suggested that investigators may be hoping to prove the Trump Organisation did in fact contribute to Trump’s campaign.

Weisselberg is also Treasurer of the Trump Foundation, the unindicted co-conspirator’s NY state charity which is already the subject of a civil suit by the state AG for criminal violations.

Money crimes related to it would have both federal and state implications, owing to its having filed state and federal tax returns. And pardons from the unindicted co-conspirator only extend to federal crimes, they don’t cover state crimes…

I’m suffering from a surfeit of popcorn here 🍿🍿🍿🍿

I think the markets will do just fine when it happens.
No worries there. Might even stabilise, which would be good.

They are just about to send a large container ship through the Arctic above Russia to test if it is a shorter route north Asia to Europe. This will bring on the usual stuff about Arctic ice melt and the world is going to hell in a handcart (come in Griff). What they won’t say is the cargo ship is ice strengthened for all year use in the Baltic
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/first-maersk-lines-baltic-feeder-vessels-vistula-arrives-mcalpine/ and has Russian icebreaker support but even then, will only go ahead if they think the ice is thin enough.

An observation on the trump-supporting right and its hypocrisy around accountability—it’s now somehow common wisdom that it’s OK to break the law if you’re a powerful person committing campaign finance violations but not if you’re a refugee trying to flee violence with your kids.

What a vile man House Republican Duncan Hunter has turned out to be:

indicted this week for using US$250,000 in campaign funds to enrich himself and his family, he’s is blaming everyone but himself for his predicament: Prosecutors are “biased” against him because he was the second representative to endorse trump. The media is just trying to make him look a fool.

And his wife? Well, he’s thrown her under the bus and blamed her for everything as well.

“She handled my finances throughout my entire military career, and that continued on when I got to Congress. She was also the campaign manager so whatever she did, that’ll be looked at too, I’m sure, but I didn’t do it.”

This is the same House Republican who took multiple women he had “personal” relationships with, on long weekend trips and treated his friends to fancy parties and big booze-ups on the campaign account. And the same person who bought golf clothing for himself and misrepresented the spend as golf ball donations for Wounded Warriors

I hope I have a right to be excited… flipping the lawyers and the ‘money men’ of the mob is usually the beginning of the end.

In total there have been 1‚733 murders on farms and 12‚567 farm attacks over the past 19 years. but half the number of murders in 1997/98. Most murders on small holdings (fewer resources) . They said farmers had installed security cameras communications systems‚ installed boom gates and bought night vision cameras and drones for their protection.
        ……
Nothing to see “cry baby” huh!?

South Africa is a great success: Social Justice and Diversity. Post colonial studies gets it’s chance to be falsified.

A lot of crap in that article. The EFF is blatantly racist and is driving the farm takeovers and attacks. At 560 of the latter annually that is still half of the all time worst level.

As for Blacks never had it so good after 17 years of Black rule unemployment is at an all time high, the value of the rand has dropped by a factor of near 10 and the public services have become utterly riddled with corruption, inefficiency and debt. As a commentator put it there recently, the least they should expect is that public servants turn up and do a few hours work each day without stealing anything. Some hope.

  8. A good point. It’s fair to ask why it took an investigation like the Mueller probe to uncover tax and bank fraud. I wonder how many think they will get away with it.

They’ve got a good chance if they are Democrats or can score immunity with an offer to implicate Trump somehow.
