It is difficult to predict what the longer term effects of all this might be.
Whether trade deals or agreements can be reached between the US and Canada and also with China, and also with the EU, will make a difference. In the meantime, the trade wars over tariffs with US subsidies to compensate will continue to disrupt markets.

/ 29th August 2018Loads of new jobs in steel mills though. The EU have decided to negotiate and drop their tariffs. China wont be far away things are looking a little ugly for Xi at home, Canada is scrambling and dropped everything and rushed to Washington after Trudeau buggared things up and Mexico has made him look stupid.
Its an ugly way of doing things but seems to be working with a minimal amount of pain to the booming US economy.
