When it comes to “cutting red tape”, Trump rules!

His administration has axed **22** laws for every new law enacted –

Add to this the unemployment at or close to record lows (including black unemployment) and black-owned businesses up by 400 percent and that’s a pretty useful record already.

Wooden, this is General Chat, we avoid things like the above here.

Trump’s policies are not appropriate for General Chat; that sort of thing belongs somewhere like Open Forum.

A bright spark in Hamilton decided to beef up some fireworks with gunpowder. I seem to remember that he had an open container of petrol handy. He closed the doors and windows of the sleepout that was his room, lit a cigarette and set to work….

He lived to tell the tale, the building didn’t.

I think that it was in England that some genius filmed himself with a firework up his bum and someone lighting it….they thought that it would take off.

It didn’t. I will draw a veil over what happened to the fool.

Sounds unlikely to me, Kitty. You would have to be very dense to light a cigarette in that environment.

Well, there was a photo of the boy and the destroyed sleepout on the front page of the Waikato Times, as well as strong words from the fire service on the idiocy of the actions.

It’s possible but not very probable that they were all liars…but disbelieve it if you like, I don’t care either way.

The idiot with the firework videoed himself.

A very good day for wildlife rangering at Pookden Manor today. Beautiful sunshine and no wind.

The pooks behaved well, with no stomping on my roof today.

Yesterday the stream was running too swift and muddy from previous rain to interact with young Eli Eel. However the wai was beautifully clear this morning & Eli came upstream through the rapids, on being summoned around 8.30 am, and responded wonderfully to my eel whispering techniques, spending nearly an hour entertaining me in return for food. I had my mobile cam and hands within 6 inches of the little fella’s head at times. He’s very cute.

And this evening I spotted big Ella over the far side & spent another 20 minutes feeding and chatting to her. Gosh she is a magnificent creature. I wouldn’t get into the water with her though. She would probably swim off & hide, but there was a recent stories of a big eel biting someone swimming in New Plymouth’s inner-city Huatoki Stream, and Ella’sso big I’d rather not chance my new chest-high waders getting holed by her.

I have decided I am not going to feed any of them by hand, although I’ve heard of this being done.

I had a morning coffee just hanging over the fence watching me pooks grazing the river bank & grooming in the sun and was entertained for about 10 minutes by one of the Burgle Boy mallard drakes who was doing his morning groom floating in the water.

The stream is still flowing strongly, a lot of water still filtering down out of all the surrounding hills and forest. He was out in the main flow & was so engrossed in his grooming routine he kept drifting quickly downstream from below my place into the rapids. It was funny to watch. He’d fly skimming across the wai back up to my area, resume his feather stroking, whoosh back into the rapids, and come skimming back up again. He went into the rapids 5 times before he decided to carry on downstream, morning toilet completed.

Seamus the Little Black Shag flew in, but he swam back down through the rapids & amused himself over the far side, hunting in the water among some of the driftwood and overhanging foliage. I have video footage of Seamus roosting and hunting in the stream & will make that into a video movie soon, when I’ve edited it. I’m trying out a new free movie making program which seems superior to Windows Live Movie Maker (no longer supported by Microsoft) but as usual there’s a lot of trial and error initially.

      * there were recent stories of an eel biting someone
And I DO feed the eels by hand, of course. I meant that I wouldn’t get them to take it directly from between my fingers. Not the way they snap at it. It’s interesting that they seem to instantly suck the meat chunks in, rather than bite at it with their mouths.
