Something relevant for the Trump world. How 140 characters have poisoned politics (and things in general)

Watched the test last night. There seems to be this mad desire not to kick penalties, but kick for touch then try for a seven pointer from set play. That mindset may have cost the ABs the game last night. The SBs also declined an easy kickable penalty in the first half. A penalty that would have put the game out of touch for the ABs in the final seconds.

The ABs need to remember winning a game is their first priority. Pleasing the crowd with last minute heroics comes second.

National wasn’t outplayed. They preferred to take their lumps and not be a puppet to Winston. Seen all those strings attached to Jacinda, Lurchy? They all lead back to NZ1 headquarters.

True..best thing that could have happened to them. The whip will be cracked by Hanson. The complete destruction of SA next time up will be expected by Kiwi die-hard fans. That’s if the Argies don’t roll us like they did the Aussies.

Nobody will be at that other minor event (wherever it is) today. Obviously this is a national disaster & responding to it absolutely has prioridy !

Hang on, I’ll have a read. I usually enjoy the beggar, must admit.

(I was hoping you might have a grin & give me an uptick for Pauline, tbh)

Oh, sorry Corks. I thought it was going to be one of Mikey’s excellent raves. Still, the first sentence is an eye-catcher:

TVNZ has received a surge in good taste and decency standard complaints about Seven Sharp since Jeremy Wells and Hilary Barry became the hosts this year.

      I’ll read on …

Don’t bother, it’s a non-story, a space-filler. It could have ended after that sentence, the rest seems to be padding.

I skimmed it. You’re not wrong. I had to give myself a blimmin uptick for Pauline. How bloody sad is that? 😐

    Gezza: (From General Chat)
“I really think that is part of the problem with Maori violence levels. It is represented that way even in contemporary song. What are boys & girls to think are how they should be & behave from this?”

I’m no cultural expert but what I am qualified to talk about is my own experience. To me it seems that, on average, Maori society is more patriarchal and macho than New Zealand society as a whole. Maori Language Week reminds me that the “Macho Patriarchy” has been a barrier to me attaining competency in Te Reo Maori. I fail to thrive when exposed to the ‘atmosphere’ I have referred to.

It’s difficult to offer any meaningful comment or opinion on that without knowing your gender or ethnic self-identity. What you are saying seems to me to be precisely the opposite of what the Greens say Maori culture is all about, and that folk like PZ seem to be saying. But it has quite different imports if you are male or female. Or fluid.

You are a sensitive male I think?

Thanks G. Re: “What you are saying seems to me to be precisely the opposite of…” I am also aware that my perception is not the last word; there may be elements of my personal history which distort my vision.

That’s as may be: my own perception is that as general rule if you are not a tuff as warrior-type dude, preferably built like a brick shithouse, you’ll get shit.
