If Ross has one recording…

Jami-Lee Ross says he has a recording of a conversation with Simon Bridges that proves breaches of electoral law and corruption.

Why he recorded this particular conversation is not clear.

If he recorded one conversation, for whatever reason, it would be fair to assume that he may have recorded other conversations. Possibly many.

One of the big unknowns at this stage is how much Ross will go public with, and how long he will do this for.

Ross has the knowledge and the power to inflict a lot of damage to his now ex-party. If armed with multiple recordings this could get even messier and murkier.

He’ll be thanking his lucky stars he’s not a Saudi needing divorce documents.

I thought he did indicate he’s got another recording of a conversation with the National Party GM about splitting the $100 k donation, but as I haven’t seen anyone else report it I’d have to listen to his whole press show. It might have been in answer to a question.

JLR is slowly slitting his own throat in public. He is making himself unemployable in any arena. He’s dreaming If he thinks he will win a by election in botany. Most of his constituents thought he was a wanker before this episode, now they’re certain.

Usually you make recordings when you know you’re in a situation that may give you blowback, or maybe as something to use at a later date just in case some problem comes out of left field.

I doubt this man is mentally ill. He is too cunning for that.

Certainly bounced back from a mental breakdown a lot bloody faster than I did. Bastard. Such a bloody show off. >:D

Umm…yes. I was being facetious about Jami-Lee’s rapid recovery being drug-related. But ‘explaining is losing’ they say…

Arty, NZFirst is the future of what?

How many Nationals will defect to NZFirst do you reckon?

Labour, who are being noticeably ‘kind’ right now, will soar in the polls after this, allowing them to take back some of the ‘power’ (such as it is) usurped by Winston …

The fall of National is going to be good for absolutely everyone!

There’s no evidence that the four women are real. We’ve been told that they don’t want to proceed with their complaints. We’ve been told they are staffers employed by Parliamentary Services. We’ve been told they did not complain to their employer.

Since all public servants ought to be aware of the formal procedure for making complaints of harassment, it defies belief that all four women get it totally wrong! Why would they complain to the Nat hierarchy instead of to PS??

Paula assured the Herald it was not sexual harassment that was “put to Jami-Lee Ross”. That accords with JLR just describing it as harassment. That implies she was present when Bridges made the allegation. Then she said it was behaviour inappropriate for a married MP. Wtf?? How can anyone interpret this as anything other than Paula contradicting herself. I hope she gets asked to tell parliament precisely what she meant by uttering the contradiction. And if she will provide parliament with evidence that the four complaints are legally-valid documents from real people. And if she can explain why their use of the complaints to silence JLR isn’t blackmail.”

What’s ‘inappropriate behaviour’? Is it possible a particular behaviour could be ‘inappropriate’ for some while ‘appropriate’ for others?

Is Paula Bennett the Camp Mother who decides what inappropriate behaviour is and then monitors it? Is that for the whole country, Wellington, Parliament, her own party or those who are causing grief for her party?

    What if?
What if the entire speech from Ross was true?
What if the meeting with Bennett and Bridges was as Ross says?
And what if Ross was not the Leaker?
What if Bridges and Bennett are telling lies?”

    • duperez

       /  October 17, 2018

That would mean accepting that Simon Bridges isn’t truthful. That would be a big call, after all he was a Crown Prosecutor and assured us the leaker wasn’t in his caucus.

Jami-Lee Ross not sounding so good in his current presser – a lot of heresay and joining the dots and “I’m right about this, so trust me on the allegations”.

Recording out soon, so I guess we’ll know more then, but starting to get a whiff of “moment of truth” about it.

Seems to be backtracking somewhat: “Ross says he does not have evidence that Bridges asked him to split the donation up. He says he didn’t tape that conversation. But he says the recording would still make clear that Bridges was asking for something corrupt to happen.”

“He says Bridges on the tape calls it a single $100,000 donation.”

This also probably doesn’t help his cause: “Ross says he has been talking to political operative Simon Lusk, who he has been friends with for a long time.”.

He also avoided mentioning if he had been on the blower with Slater. He was asked if he had spoken to Slater or Maurice Williamson, and said he had not spoken to Maurice in quite some time.

The recording is out – Bridges basically says “I will check out what we are allowed to do with the money and come back to you”.

    I think Ross just over-shot:

I just had a listen on the Herald’s one. I can’t hear anything in this that Bridges has knowingly directed that anything illegal be done with it. But there’s some politically damaging comments re Finlayson & other candidates at the end – no doubt intended to cause further damage to Bridges.

JLR could have edited out that part as nothing to do with splitting a large donation up – seems the Lusk way of full on attack/slander regardless of relevance is in full view here.
