Trump tweet “is a sickening ad”

Donald Trump has been outrageously lying and inflaming on Twitter or years, but he may have not just jumped the shark, he has also kicked the shark’s teeth in.

On top of ordering thousands of troops to the US-Mexico border as an apparent election ploy, he has gone over the top playing the immigration card via Twitter:

This attack may rark up Trump’s base but it will make a few Republican candidates for seats in Senate and Congress nervous about the reaction of decent voters.

Oh please. We’ve had almost three years of this “Can you believe what he said” outrage schtick, with no major shift in his approve/disapprove numbers. In other words, all this stuff is “priced in” to the public’s assessment of Trump.

Yet despite this failure, people insist on continuing the farce of pearl clutching and gasps of horror, as if this time “decent people” will turn away. And Flake voted for Kavanaugh.

You know what’s really sickening? The crime itself and the criminal who did it:

A jury convicted Luis Bracamontes Friday in the 2014 slayings of two Sacramento-area deputies, giving the self-confessed cop killer what he has insisted he wanted all along: a chance at being executed.

After all the verdicts were read, Bracamontes looked at the families of the deputies and said, “Congratulations.”

“I’m gonna kill more cops soon,” he added as he was taken out of the Sacramento Superior Court chamber.

You want to be even more sickened?

Bracamontes, a Mexican citizen who had been deported repeatedly and had a felony drug and weapons history in Arizona, had been living in a Salt Lake City suburb for years with his wife and his brother, Hector.

If you are a Democrat and you support illegal aliens staying in the US, especially if you support the idea of “Sanctuary Cities” where the cops are instructed not to cooperate with ICE to round and deport illegal aliens, then you are directly responsible for this sort of thing.

That’s why CBS news, other MSM outlets and the Democrats are squealing about this. They only want to talk about illegal aliens in the context of being caring and compassionate. This is the other side of that story and they hate being placed on it by Trump, who once again shows his instinct for the jugular and “things that just should not be said”.

A classic example of what I was talking about downthread: the “feelz” argument, complete with the Have you no shame approach.

The judgement on him has been rendered by a court anyway – and that’s not the point.

I’m judging the system that allowed him to re-enter the US on multiple occasions after he’d been deported, I’m certainly judging the politicians who excused that and continue to excuse it because they think it will garner them votes with actual citizens of the US who were Mexican or perhaps other Latino background, and yes, I’m judging those people who think they can break a country’s immigration laws and get away with it with tearful pleas for compassion. I assume you know what happens with people who try that here in NZ sometimes: lucky we don’t have a long, physical border with other countries or we might be a bit more sympathetic to US citizens who want this controlled.

You want to enter the USA? Do so legally, like the one million a year who do so, and as every other country in the world demands. You think you’re a refugee instead? Then apply for that status at one of the many US ports where that is dealt with.

Listening to this guy I reckon he should run for President, with his ideas on immigration

We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States, but those who enter the country illegally and those who employ them disrespect the rule of law and they are showing disregard for those who are following the law.

We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.

All those in the Honduran caravan are criminals intent on getting to the United States and causing mayhem. When the armed forces meet them and ‘take them out’ the problem will be sorted out.

Well, maybe they ‘all’ aren’t criminal lowlives with evil intent, but there might be some in the mass, so take them all out.

And some Mexicans have evil intent and commit heinous crimes, so get rid of them all, don’t ever let any in. And some tourists commit heinous crimes, so don’t let any in …

The USA has a problem with guns startlingly most sane people think more guns is not the answer .

Same with other legal immigrants through American history. It should therefore not be a surprise that such people, having jumped through the stupid hoops to become US citizens, are not that pleased at the queue jumpers, and therefore perhaps not that impressed with the Democrats stance on the issue of illegal immigrants.

I get it that a lot of people don’t like Trump but perhaps they should just take a deep breath and look at the stats. A poll just released has the public believing that the media is more divisive than Trump by a good margin. Trumps as a politician is supposed to be divisive its what a politician dose. The media on the other hand is supposed to be neutral.

Yep, great compilation of anti-Trump garbage that’s presented as news. Same for all the late night shows Colbert, Kimmel, Seth Meyers, the Daily Show et al. Just a ground-breaking update, Barbra Streisand mentioned she may migrate to Canada if the Dems don’t gain a majority in the mid-terms.
Trump certainly is a polarising character, no doubt, but the cause of nonsense that has become America today, has been created by the Liberals inventing and publishing/broad-casting daily anti-Trump rhetoric. Couple that with the high use of mind-altering meds (both legal and non-legal) and it’s one crazy show.

The Economist: Progressives need a new approach to immigration:

That, in a nutshell, is the charge made against smug liberals who champion “open borders”. They get all the benefits of large-scale migration from low-wage countries: cheap nannies, Uber drivers, decorators, waiters, sandwich-makers, chambermaids and dog-walkers. But they don’t rely on public housing, tend to have private health-care and often pay for private education so that their children are not brought up in classes where, in some cases, their native tongue is spoken by a minority.

Meanwhile those locals not so fortunate as the cosmopolitan elite (who kid themselves that they deserve their good fortune because they worked hard, ignoring that they started life on third base) often compete with people who will work for less because they are prepared to live in dorms or bedsits, having left their families at home.

I wonder what The Economist‘s first clue was?

Don’t recall the National party calling for unrestricted entry? And given it was such a free for all, good to see things tightened so much by the current Government who…have done nothing (except backtrack).

The hand-wringing is the whole point. This is the Left of recent decades: no argument, just feelz. The tactic of Guilting and Shaming (and Shunning too if possible) that is not designed to respond to an argument but to avoid an issue that hurts the Left by getting people to shut up and not speak about it or at a minimum put them on the defensive all the time.

For the good side of a policy, in this case the caring, weepy, compassionate side of the Beautiful Left in dealing with illegal immigrants – not like those horridable, evil RWNJ’s. That is what the Left want the debate to be about and all this Have you no decency, sir? is more of what I described the other day as Civility Bullshit. It’s designed to shut people up if they raise the bad side of a policy. Debate framing 101 except it’s done using feelings not argument.

And that’s yet another reason why Trump has done better than expected: the whole Guilt and Shaming tactic just bounces off him. As this article puts it: Trump has disarmed the Left of its politically correct weapons.

And he’s also provided a guidebook on this to how other Right-wing politicians might consider dealing with the same tactics, best summed up as “That’s different because Shut Up. It’s too late for ACT, but perhaps National could learn something in our super nice little nation.
