Awful comment, good moderation

What appears to be fair criticism of a comment at The Standard, but a good response:

That’s correct, here’s the comment from The dirty politics of beating up on Karel Sroubek:

Jack Ramaka 4.2

Jacindarella and Winnie the Pooh need to flush out the corrupt officials and dismantle the Stazi Network set up by the Hungarian Jew JK, which exists here in NZ in the Police, Intelligence Services and Government Departments. These people are employed to serve the best interests of New Zealanders not Mike Hoskins, Duncan Garner, Simon Bridges, Pulla Benefit and the Canterbury Pie Eating Champ ?

[Going to leave this unedited as an example of How Not To Comment on TS. Jack, if you go down the ‘blame the Jews’ line again, you’ll be gone. TRP]

There’s a few things in that comment that deserve condemnation, but I think this is good moderation – leaving the comment so it can be seen how awful it was,  but making it clear it is unacceptable.

The same day ‘Jack Ramaka’ posted quite a few comments, including:

I need to be careful what I say here as you are not allowed to mention a certain word on this site as it is culturally sensitive. However people closely aligned to the Isreali’s have a very big influence in Hollywood, enough said otherwise the RWNJ’s will be jumping up and down squealing and demand that I be removed from the TS site.

One should visit the Whale Oil & National Party’s Kiwi Blog sites and see how culturally insensitive they are towards indigeneous people of Maori or Pacific Island extraction ? Enough said otherwise I will be described as being racist and may be banned ?

I don’t know how long he will last there.

I think Jack will do well there eventually – his line of thinking seems to fit right in! Just needs to hide it better.

This is irrelevant in this post unless you are wanting to make an anti-semitic comment on the former PM. This is disgraceful to put in this post, if you were making some other point maybe you should have posted it on a post more relevant, not one discussing an anti-semitic comment by someone on the left of politics.

Anti-Semitism is running rife in the UK fuelled and encouraged by the hard left, is that happening in NZ now too??

If not put an explanation as to why this was posted here.

Hello, Missy. I put the video here so that PDB, who posted just prior, would see it. It builds on a discussion we had yesterday about Pike River and John Key’s “committment to bring the boys out”. Your interpretation that has you suspecting anti-semitism only reflects your own obsession/hypersensitivity, imo, about …whatever it is you took offence at. I have a suggestion: When you find yourself using if, if, if in response to someone’s comment, ASK THEM WHAT THEY THINK before launching into an offended/offensive diatribe. Just wanting to be helpful.

Re. Key and Pike River – I posted Key’s same exact comments the other day. He said he’d do all he can to get the ‘boys out’, not get the boys out regardless of expert opinion at the time regarding the safety of the mine. Otherwise what some of these families are saying in effect is Key promised to 100% get the boys out regardless of any further deaths to people trying to go in – obviously he didn’t.

            • Well, PDB, Key failed to honour his commitment. Never mind, he’s gone. Andrew Little otoh, is genuine.

All Little has done is heap more pressure on himself to deliver – only going into the drift a way will not satisfy the families wanting to see bodies/bones. Epic fail to come.

The political cynicism required to use these families to wack your political opponents when you know perfectly well no bodies will ever be retrieved, and this entire operation is for nothing other than the cameras, is simply staggering.

MIssy’s in London, robert. She doesn’t stay up all night watching for whatever little slights you might have posted. Even I am down to giving you no more than 10 minutes max per day now.

And was he genuine when as head of the EPMU he said there were no safefty concerns in that mine? Little has a lot to be ashamed of and to make up for.

            • So, PDB – we have different interpretations of what was meant – no worries, that happens all of the time. Essentially, I want to paint National dark and you want to do the same with Labour – doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the ride. Gezza – I don’t buy that at all. Not interested in following your argument. That will annoy the hell out of you, but that’s what you try to do to me, so we’re all good!

Thanks, Gezza, I didn’t know Missy was in a different time zone – I thought she was just on a different planet 🙂
Point of fact: I didn’t post a slight, she did, as you’d have understood, had you read with an open mind. Perhaps she’ll get back, but it seems anything posted one a certain day is old news, not to be revisited one the following day, here on Your NZ.

😄 Yes , PDB.. there’s a Lefty art to being nasty in a nice way. Jew hating is another step up.
It’s not hard to work out useful idiots from the calculating Lefty poster. Jacko just needs time and a little refinement. Instead of talking about Jews, he needs to switch to Zionists. That’s the first rule of Jew hating.

There are some people who don’t understand the difference between Zionists, Israelis and Jews. This is due in my opinion to ignorance brought on by wearing blinkers.

My point exactly, actually. In my case I have no problem with people being ethnically Jewish, I think those who are religiously Jewish (i.e. believe in Judaism, that Jaweh as depicted in the Jewish scriptures is real, and all the mythical nonsense in those is true) are deluded.

I think modern Israel – forged by Zionists – has won its right to exist by force of arms (and now by birthright of many Israeli citizens born post 1948) & that although the Zionists have stolen & are still stealing land that was under Muslim control for 1400 years and Israelite control for only 300 years (and even then, in part, as two separate states, Israel and Judah, under different rulers) it is time for Arabs and Iranians to accept these facts on the ground.

However there are Zionists in Israel and in their government who still seek to steal back all the land of biblical Israel and to subjugate or ethnically cleanse the area of Palestinian arabs. They have now succeeded in openly declaring it an apartheid state (and no longer operating it as one in practice if not in law).

These individuals are playing a long game, the stages of which I watch with interest.

First, I will say good moderation by TRP (I know he sometimes reads this blog, so wanted to say that), that is big, usually I am not a fan of how TS moderates. He was right to leave it up to show the AS.

I am finding more and more – especially here in the UK – it is the left and far left that are sowing the seeds of Anti Semitism. This is unacceptable, and as we have seen in the UK weak and ineffectual leadership on the matter will just allow it to grow.

It doesn’t take much for many to have their criticisms of Israel spill over into being Anti Semitic.

Witness the remark about Zionism above.

I was called ‘that Jewess’ in the UK, and it was done as an insult…by soi-disant Christians.

I remember some years ago that people wanted to stop having Christmas celebrations/decorations (I forget the details) in some English city, I forget which, on the grounds that Jews and Muslims found these offensive and wanted them to go. The Jewish and Muslim federations publicly denied this and said that they were tired of being used by people as a handy hook* for their own prejudices.

Years ago in NZ a school wanted to stop selling hot cross buns because they were supposedly offensive to the local Muslims….who said that (a) they were not offended by hot cross buns (b) were capable of speaking for themselves about what they found offensive if they felt that strongly about it.

In the NZ case it may have been meant well, but that sort of thing is what bigots love to sieze upon and turn into a ‘demand’. The Christmas thing was potentially very damaging.

      * not their words, of course

I don’t think that people are ‘beating up’ KS. The objection is to someone with his record and connections being let to stay and the stuff-up by the Minister.

I don’t understand why he is privileged when other people are not let to stay here, people who have done nothing like what he has.

    I beg to differ!

This link has an excellent, complete history of the region of what is now Israel –
“How Strong Is the Arab Claim to “Palestine”?”
    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1202907/posts

( “Palestine” is, of course, and has always been, a **region** (like Siberia), not a country. )

    Quote –
“There is a myth hanging over all discussion of the Palestinian problem: the myth that this land was “Arab” land taken from its native inhabitants by invading Jews. Whatever may be the correct solution to the problems of the Middle East, let’s get a few things straight:

§ As a strictly legal matter, the Jews didn’t take Palestine from the Arabs; they took it from the British, who exercised sovereign authority in Palestine under a League of Nations mandate for thirty years prior to Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948. And the British don’t want it back.

§ If you consider the British illegitimate usurpers, fine. In that case, this territory is not Arab land but Turkish land, a province of the Ottoman Empire for hundreds of years until the British wrested it from them during the Great War in 1917. And the Turks don’t want it back.

§ If you look back earlier in history than the Ottoman Turks, who took over Palestine over in 1517, you find it under the sovereignty of the yet another empire not indigenous to Palestine: the Mamluks, who were Turkish and Circassian slave-soldiers headquartered in Egypt. And the Mamluks don’t even exist any more, so they can’t want it back.

So, going back 800 years, there’s no particularly clear chain of title that makes Israel’s title to the land inferior to that of any of the previous owners. Who were, continuing backward:

§ The Mamluks, already mentioned, who in 1250 took Palestine over from:

§ The Ayyubi dynasty, the descendants of Saladin, the Kurdish Muslim leader who in 1187 took Jerusalem and most of Palestine from:

§ The European Christian Crusaders, who in 1099 conquered Palestine from:

§ The Seljuk Turks, who ruled Palestine in the name of:

§ The Abbasid Caliphate of Baghdad, which in 750 took over the sovereignty of the entire Near East from:

§ The Umayyad Caliphate of Damascus, which in 661 inherited control of the Islamic lands from

§ The Arabs of Arabia, who in the first flush of Islamic expansion conquered Palestine in 638 from:

§ The Byzantines, who (nice people—perhaps it should go to them?) didn’t conquer the Levant, but, upon the division of the Roman Empire in 395, inherited Palestine from:

§ The Romans, who in 63 B.C. took it over from:

§ The last Jewish kingdom, which during the Maccabean rebellion from 168 to 140 B.C. won control of the land from:

§ The Hellenistic Greeks, who under Alexander the Great in 333 B.C. conquered the Near East from:

§ The Persian empire, which under Cyrus the Great in 639 B.C. freed Jerusalem and Judah from:

§ The Babylonian empire, which under Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C. took Jerusalem and Judah from:

§ The Jews, meaning the people of the Kingdom of Judah, who, in their earlier incarnation as the Israelites, seized the land in the 12th and 13th centuries B.C. from:

§ The Canaanites, who had inhabited the land for thousands of years before they were dispossessed by the Israelites.

As the foregoing suggests, any Arab claim to sovereignty based on inherited historical control will not stand up. Arabs are not native to Palestine, but are native to Arabia, which is called Arab-ia for the breathtakingly simple reason that it is the historic home of the Arabs. The terroritories comprising all other “Arab” states outside the Arabian peninsula—including Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria, as well as the entity now formally under the Palestinian Authority—were originally non-Arab nations that were conquered by the Muslim Arabs when they spread out from the Arabian peninsula in the first great wave of jihad in the 7th century, defeating, mass-murdering, enslaving, dispossessing, converting, or reducing to the lowly status of dhimmitude millions of Christians and Jews and destroying their ancient and flourishing civilizations. Prior to being Christian, of course, these lands had even more ancient histories. Pharaonic Egypt, for example, was not an Arab country through its 3,000 year history.

The recent assertion by the Palestinian Arabs that they are descended from the ancient Canaanites whom the ancient Hebrews displaced is absurd in light of the archeological evidence. There is no record of the Canaanites surviving their destruction in ancient times. History records literally hundreds of ancient peoples that no longer exist. The Arab claim to be descended from Canaanites is an invention that came after the 1964 founding of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the same crew who today deny that there was ever a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. Prior to 1964 there was no “Palestinian” people and no “Palestinian” claim to Palestine; the Arab nations who sought to overrun and destroy Israel in 1948 planned to divide up the territory amongst themselves. Let us also remember that prior to the founding of the state of Israel in 1948, the name “Palestinian” referred to the Jews of Palestine. ”
