Andrew Little has a very selective memory.
He seems to have completely forgotten his role in defending the Pike River Mine and its Management at the time.
He let his Union members down.

He’d have been far better to have kept his mouth shut and not made people remember this by drawing attention to it.

I’m surprised National haven’t used this as retaliation every time Labour use Pike River as a cudgel against them….

So despite what he had said at the time, not his fault or the unions because they had so many members!
But definitely the Government’s fault, the last one of course.
    A grade wanker.

Extrapolating that reference to membership numbers and methods of reporting to Pike being his fault and him being an A grade wanker is a vigorous Monday morning reaction.

Have you averaged it out, you know, A — for saying it wasn’t his fault, A- for saying it wasn’t the union’s fault and A+++ for mentioning the previous Government?

Of course I did all that as well as remembering he is a lawyer from a middle class family who has never been got his hands dirty doing honest work, let alone gone down a mine carrying his crib.

Which might suggest the angst has the subtlety and nuance of a piece of coal.

Definitely seems to be inviting trouble for himself once the journos and the Hoskings of the NZ media start to question why he defended mine management and safety.

Crib? My late neighbour, a Welshman, would talk about crib tins. I have seen one in a museum.Ray, where does your family come from?

Good luck to AL trying to talk his way out of that one. He’d be better not to try.

A little humility and “I feel responsible” type comment from Andrew would be the correct approach… instead it’s just a political football and opportunity to have a crack at the Key government…..

      I agree.

He’s trying to make up for it, I think, but he can’t. If he acknowledged his share and expressed regret for it, he would regain some respect.

” Mr Bridges told Morning Report he didn’t believe the families were owed an apology from the current or previous government.

“I don’t think so,” he said”

Go Simon! Out of the frying pan…

Apologies for what precisely? Labour deconstructed the mines inspectorate…. Labours current Minister in charge defended Pike Rivers safety record as head of the EPMU… so maybe you are looking for your apologies in the wrong place…

” Rob Fyfe has also called on the previous Government to apologise. Anyone who knows Rob’s cv knows he’s a genuine independent (both National and Labour have drawn on his skill base.) Agree or disagree: but dont ignore that it’s not just a political call.”
