Disgruntled police and prison guards stormed Papua New Guinea’s Parliament in a pay dispute that stemmed from an international summit hosted by the South Pacific island nation over the weekend, a lawmaker said.

Images posted by opposition lawmaker Bryan Kramer on social media showed broken windows, smashed furniture, framed pictures torn from corridor walls and plants tipped over.

Kramer said the protesters had not been paid allowances for their security work at a Pacific Rim leaders’ summit held in Port Moresby.

The standard backdrop to all Aljazeera daily tv news items on khashoggi murder

Trump getting slammed by Aljaz tv & Congress for blithering “Amerika First” when what he actually means is Saudi Arabia First, because jobs and size of deal – when his claims on that (as usual) are BS.

US arms sales to Saudi Arabia give Washington extensive leverage on Riyadh, while accounting for fewer than 20,000 US jobs a year – less than a twentieth of the employment boost Donald Trump has claimed – according to a new report.

Trump has repeatedly cited the importance of Saudi arms sales to the US economy as a reason not to cut the supply of weapons in response to the murder of the Saudi writer and Washington Post columnist, Jamal Khashoggi.

The president has frequently estimated the total extent of defence sales to the Saudi regime at $110bn, and variously said they would generate 450,000, 500,000 or 600,000 jobs.
