Male only Santa stance ‘inappropriate’

Farmers (to chain of stores) has sacked a Santa and Santa provider because he has said he won’t consider employing females for the role.

ODT (NZH):  Santa sacked over ‘inappropriate’ comments

Farmers is ditching its longstanding Santa for tomorrow’s Christmas parade in Auckland, after the man behind the beard said he wouldn’t hire women to play Father Christmas.

My Santa director Neville Baker last weekend told the Herald on Sunday he does not cast any female applicants for the role of Santa.

“They apply, and you say, ‘have you misread the ad?’ Putting politically correct things to one side, there’s a certain character people expect to find when they come to meet Santa,” Baker said.

For the past five years, Baker has personally played Santa on the main float in the Farmers Santa Parade, and was booked to do so again on Sunday.

However, in the wake of Neville’s comments, Farmers has announced it is no longer employing their Santa through the My Santa company.

“We are distancing ourselves from this company. We found his comments to be inappropriate and unnecessary and will be not using their services for the parade,” Chairman of the Children’s Christmas Parade Trust Michael Barnett said.

However, last night, Baker said he had not heard from Farmers and insisted he would turn up as usual.

Is this a fair and righteous stand by Farmers? Or ‘PC’ gone mad.

I doubt that many men are considered for roles as Minister of Women or midwife. Perhaps the difference is the discrimination is done on the quiet with those jobs.

Fist they came for your plastic bags. Then they came for Santa. Next will be Jesus…and finally the big bang theory.

    Seems logical to me.

There are many transsexuals with no gay parade to look forward to up in wacky Auckland,A glitter dressed queen in red would really make those children’s day, the Christmas parade committee should grab at the chance for diversity

        That’ll be the bloody day.

Santa Claus is a man, he is St Nicholas and based upon a real person. He could no more be played by a woman than a real life female could be played by a man.

That depends on when they were performed, of course.

The early ones were boys, but they were not adult men and didn’t look like drag queens.

I’m a big fan of the Pleiades Star Cluster (and the Orion Nebula – look at the middle “star” in the handle of “The Pot” with binoculars). Happy to see Matariki steadily gaining in popularity as a Kiwi festival time.

There will probably be a parade but it won’t have a Santa and it won’t be for Christmas. Might have police. There’ll be heaps of plastic but no plastic shopping bags.

This is all part dehumanizing and desexing the population and removing all traces of individuality. A man is a man and woman is a woman. When you strip people of their individuality, you strip them of their ability to be themselves, be proud of who they are.

Same thing is happening with history. Any evidence that other nationalities existed in NZ before the Maori is being withheld from the public, and that denial of history is damaging to both Maori and Pakeha.

Is there any solid evidence of the latter, Samuel? I’m prepared to believe some early Portugese or Spanish sailors might have called but they wouldn’t have pre-dated Maori and the rest seem to have all been Polynesian.

          Oh dear.
The pre maori myth has been debunked for decades.
The first evidence we have of humans in NZ date from about 1285 CE.

Not according to Maori oral history, or evidence unearthed and carbon dated, or DNA evidence. The oldest discovered artifact of human existence in NZ dates back tens of thousands of years. The statement that something has been “debunked” is not proof. A lot of work has been done by NZ historians which has been swept under the carpet because it doesn’t fit.

Also a good read is “To the ends of the Earth”. You are naive to think that New Zealand has been around for millions of years and that no-one from a previous civilization dared to land here. It is the idea that the Maoris were the first to NZ that has been debunked.

As I said, denying the true history is damaging to both Maori and Pakeha.

              Conspiracy .
Repeating the nonsense of well know nutters.
The Polynesians developed ocean voyaging before any know civilization. Polynesian Twin hull voyaging catamarans are ideal ocean vessels being quick ,extremely stable and capable of traveling to windward. It has been proven that they can easily and safely travel across oceans using the technology available to Polynesians in 1200CE.
The western races did not have the technology required to leave the sight of land let alone crossing the vast distance required to get here before the Portuguese developed ocean crossing circa 1500CE.
Until you have crossed it you do not know what it is like out there.
The idea that Celts got here first is absurd.

            • Samuel Foster

               /  November 24, 2018

@Griff Who said the prior inhabitants were “western” races? There is DNA in some Maori bloodlines that trace back to Peru and Alaska, and shared DNA and culture between Easter Island, Hawaii and NZ. But I can see that you have made up your mind and won’t look at any evidence.

Who said anything about the Celts being here first? That’s only in the last 200 years. Carbon dated history goes back much longer than that.

@Alan I don’t watch videos much either, but I think you will will find it interesting.

shared DNA and culture between Easter Island, Hawaii and NZ

              No shite Sherlock.
Maybe because they are all Polynesians and their archeological history fits with to the period of ocean voyaging around 1200CE that also brought the maori here.

The jury is out as yet if Polynesians did voyage as far as south America.
It is taken as at lest possible .
There is no reliable evidence of any humans on NZ before 1285.
No dated artifacts no evidence of human civilization caused ecological changes… nothing.
Just cranks and their conspiracy gibbering.

               /  November 24, 2018

@Griff You have stated no “reliable evidence”. Define your view of “reliable evidence”. Does that indicate existence of evidence that you consider “unreliable”? And unreliable in whose view? Or just an absence of evidence full stop?

Again I think you have made your mind up and in true deductive thinking will discount anything that questions that decision? Or are open?

            • Samuel Foster

               /  November 24, 2018

@Griff, I like your determination, but resorting to using the terms ‘cranks’ and ‘conspiracy gibbering’ always indicates one side of the debate is unsure and therefore to quell any doubt must resort to character assassination of others. Which automatically brings question to their motives. Surely the quest is to find the truth, otherwise in principle, how different and narrow visioned is your ranting to that of the JW’s you so despise?

That was JW ‘special force’ missionaries. They are assigned to handle crazies. How you deal with them is to ask them to pray for you. Praying for strangers isn’t part of their religion. They will feel uncomfortable and go.

I tell them that my husband was a clergyman (he was going to be ordained) and show them the icons. I have had some pleasant conversations with them, especially one whom I was sorry to see go. One man came when we’d had a lot of murders in two weeks and asked what I thought of it (in other words, not interested in my view but wanted to say at length was his was) and wouldn’t shut up although I was in a hurry to get out (hint, holding keys and handbag)

One time friends and I saw them at my gate so drove on and up the road. They were at the door when we came back so on we went, Oh bugger, they were still there when we came back, and it was obvious that they’d seen us passing and laughing. The fourth time we passed, they were at the gate and saw us laughing our heads off….I bet that they prayed for those heathens that night.
