This post is open to anyone to comment on any topic that isn’t spam, illegal or offensive. All Your NZ posts are open but this one is for you to raise topics that interest you.

If providing opinions on or summaries of other information also provide a link to that information. Bloggers are welcome to summarise and link to their posts.

Comments worth more exposure may be repeated as posts.Comments from other forums can be repeated here, cut and paste is fine.

Your NZ is a mostly political and social issues blog but not limited to that, and views from anywhere on the political spectrum are welcome. Some ground rules:

  • If possible support arguments, news, points or opinions with links to sources and facts.
  • Please don’t post anything illegal, potentially defamatory or abusive.

FIRST TIME COMMENTERS: Due to abuse by a few, first comments under any ID will park in moderation until released (as soon as possible but it can sometimes take a while).

Sometimes comments will go into moderation or spam automatically due to mistyped ID, too many links (>4), or trigger text or other at risk criteria.

Free speech is an important principle here but some people who might pose a risk to the site may be limited.

Getting a bit concerned about me mate Blazer. He’s been MIA for a while. Hope he’s ok and hasn’t done something silly like paid to a quick visit to Israel and said something impolitic while passing through security. :/

He’ll be back soon and with a vengeance probably …

I’m looking forward to his return.

He’ll be fine so long as he doesn’t have any of your posts on his phone, Sir Gerald.

Speaking of which, I happened to have my smartphone on me as well as my usual 3G mobile when I was watching 1ewes at 6 down at ma’s this evening. They had an item saying that Civil Defence were going to be sending out a test alert to people’s cellphones in half an hour. Mine was switched off and had data switched off too. Ma doesn’t want a computer or internet access & there’s no or other wifi connection I can use down there.

I still got the Civil Defence alert on my smartphone? (Not on my 3G mobile though.)

No. of return car trips to and from ma’s place today: 2
No. of solo teenagers encountered crossing the road in front of me on my street: 6
No. of these who were male: 1
No. of these who were female: 5
% of total road-crossing teenagers encountered who were looking at their smartphones the whole time they were crossing the road: 100

It’s possible there may not be as many of these young folk around to look after their folks in their old age as some economists think.

Golden glow apparent from the Australian dust as the sun goes down.
The effect is already noticeable here with a couple of hours until sunset.

There is so much negative crap thrown at iwi for supposedly mismanaging their finances and treaty settlements it was good to see an item on 1ewes at 6 last night that was framed around “The Maori Economy” and gave this example of how it is being very successfully exploited by one Iwi. Did anyone else see this? I realise a lot of posters watch that other rubbish dirtbag newshub channel that Tova and Paddy work for & don’t know if it also featured anything on this.
