  1. The World Cup semi-final is on Sky at 8 am this morning.

They’ve done extremely well to get this far. Can they pull off a shock win here?

Yes, I thought so when I skimmed it yesterday. I noted this.

The study has been misunderstood by some religious parties who thought it meant that we all came into being in some seminal Big Bang-typed event 100,000 ago, but this isn’t what the findings actually suggest.

What Stoeckle and Thaler’s findings point to is that our species has to revamp far more often than we thought, and we do so in unison with all animals.

It will be interesting to see what reactions this generates among other the relevant scientific communities than the two researchers who reported these results, given how frequently these days “peer-reviewed” research is reported quickly and with fanfare & subsequently disputed and rebutted.

        Revamp sounded really scientific…
The term seems to have been overlooked by my Evolutionary biology lecturers and I notice even Darwin & Wallace gave it nil attention.

It’s not really news, the idea that we all had the same xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxgreatgrandmother in Africa has been around for ages.

A ‘bad trip’ can become a really bad trip when you tumble out of a car and jump off the Auckland Harbour Bridge. 😱

What has been going on in the Ministry of Social Development down south?

Q.11. Hon LOUISE UPSTON to the Minister for Social Development: Has she been advised of the date that the member for Dunedin South or her office delivered Labour Party pamphlets to Ministry of Social Development sites in Dunedin South and Mosgiel; if so, what is that date?

What a pack of miserable sods. I go to the trouble of finding and posting the bloody video for everyone so people can form their own enthusiastically biased views and I end up having to bloody uptick myself for making that effort. 😡

There’s nothing wrong with Paula’s words. She has perfectly intelligible, reasonable questions – and she is getting perfectly intelligible, reasonable answers, so she is not scoring any significant hits.

          No.

That is the correct answer. Because I DID watch it. But you are just posting phrases that weren’t in any logical manner linked to that & are quite odd on their own.

My quoted phrases weren’t linked logically to the video?
            They were direct quotes .
That you can’t make the connection is…your problem.
I’m thinking you can’t keep up. I’ll retire from the interchange. I’ve useful things to do. Back tomorrow morning though.

  9. I just watched the 2nd reading speeches of the Govt. Med-use bill.. I had heard that Natl were withdrawing their support, but alas maybe it is too sensitive/vote losing ?
It passed with all parties support.. YAHOO !

I think they intend to progress it to committee next week & 3rd reading before end of 2018 ?

btw; It was disappointing to hear 2 Natl MPs call it ‘Marijuana’ & one even said it was a poison & harmful to children: FEAR-MONGERING or what ?
**They were reminded by Govt. MPs that they were debating, the Med-use of Cannabis, not DOPE-smoking !

This ‘3rd striker’ is now just taking the piss: “A third-strike murderer who escaped life in prison without parole, says he should be eligible for parole after serving just 14 years of his life term.”

“At the start of his submissions Sutcliffe acknowledged that with the sentencing judge’s comment that it was a finely balanced decision to avoid life without parole, it could be suggested that the 20-year minimum was unlikely to be unjust.”

“He had beaten Kerehoma to death in the Hamilton garage where they had been living, after she texted a former partner saying Davis had been hitting her and she felt unsafe.
He took her phone from her and read the texts. His anger turned to violence and it appeared he punched her to death, breaking bones in her face and the back of her skull, and probably kicking her too.
He had killed Kerehoma just five months after being released from prison. He left her to die in the garage, went to see friends and only called an ambulance when he returned hours later, when she was long dead.”
