School v school: Principals push back against proposals to neuter competition

Auckland Grammar School headmaster Tim O’Connor, said proposed education hubs to force schools to work together weren’t necessary – because the competition they would be trying to address didn’t exist.

“It’s a myth that we all operate in silos,” he said. “Competition to me is when Rangitoto College beats us in physics.”

The “one-size-fits-all model” failed to recognise the special character and culture of schools, and the fact they catered to their communities, he said. He vowed to resist the report “at all costs”.

The review’s public consultation process ends on April 7, 2019.

When a child’s educational achievements are 70% determined by their parents and 30% by the school the proposed changes are designed to win the competition for the best parents by compulsion and in so doing prevent their escape from the adverse impact of an environment of poor parenting.

It is as alleged simply Stalinism.

Dunno, but aren’t they forgetting a major difference in style? Obama didn’t daily insult half the US electorate and half the world’s countries as well.
