I had to find and destroy security cam footage of Bluey behaving in a threatening manner towards me as I came back up from the Eel Spot, & of me waving the Eel Feeding Stick at him and giving him right bollocking! Said he was protecting his whiny kid. I told him: bullshit!; everybody knows I’d never harm his children.

Told him if it ever happens again I’ll go public with the footage and his reputation here will be shot ! 😡

      Name ’em and shame ’em.

Fido learned about that some time ago.

    11 am this morning
Mallard Mum and her 3 quiet, well-behaved kids, all on a morning family outing together (just quietly avoiding the big eel).

Had to smile – I encountered this mum & her 3 kids again just before while driving up to collect some meds for ma from a local pharmacy.

They were intending to cross the road. They were proceeding along the berm / lawn to the kerb in single file, all walking in step, with mum at the rear, and they literally all looked both ways first and waited until I had passed before walking smartly across the road, in single file.

Now there’s a mallard mum who knows how to bring her kids up right !

    11 am this morning
Constantly whining, demanding, needy, only child who is driving his father to drink.

How dare you say that about my dear little godpook ? His father’s probably a drinker anyway.

Honestly Kitty. He never stops whining. You can hear him whining from 300 metres away and he’ll whine the whole time he walks to wherever his dad or mum are ! Pickles & Jojo were just the same. I mean, they’re cute to look at and fascinating to watch as they grow into their late teens but I’ve never encountered another lot of birds whose kids whine so much and so loudly. All that shuts them up is food.

Anyway … whatever. Here’s your godson at 6 am. Growing up. Beak’s turning red now. Wings look they could generate enuf lift to get him airborne but I think he might be gonna be a slow flyer. He’s the most anxious of my 3 grandpooklets, but he did stumble upon my poor best pook mate Aspen after he was murdered so it may be PTSD, and Pickles and Jojo were raised just over the fence, below me, so I had a more frequent, calming, influence on their formative months.

He’s very graceful and handsome; he takes after my side of the family.

I’m not seeing your uptick under his video clip. I’ll just go and find my glasses and have given you that one on spec.

I had 20 minutes quality time with Elvira this morning. She danced divinely for her treats. Granville got chased off by her – even though he tried to make up, & I felt a bit sorry for him – but it’s his own fault that she won’t allow him to even be in the same stream zone as her.

Later this afternoon I saw him down there, forlornly waving his tail from out of his safe space – an overgrown overhang a bit further upstream, opposite the Eel Spot, and I eventually managed to entice him over and spent 20 minutes quality time with him too. He’s still got a bit to learn about balancing on his tail and putting his head out to take his treats, while staying in the same place. He’s good at popping his head out now when he sees the food, but he wavers about, and has to try again quite often. But he’s learning; he’s definitely getting better at it.
