The US government has been broke, using that measure for some time. It doesnt matter as the bills still get paid. The Fed is like a subsidiary of a large business, they back it, or inject more capital if really necessary
. Any loss now was counterbalanced by the huge ‘profits ‘ the Fed made back in the era of printing money. In 2010 the Fed made a profit for the government of nearly $80 bill.

The article seems as clueless as you, B. It manages to assume its bond assets are actually liabilities just because they have fallen in value.

So what . Remember all the fuss about a few cycleways, back in 2010….you would have thought it was paradise for those areas

And guess who was one of the cheerleaders for the Key government ? Roughan
yes marijuana legislation is small cheese, but have you seen what passes for headlines these days… media will crawl over broken glass to get ‘yoof’ readers for stories like that

Notice that Reti couldnt put up his private members bill while English was leader- As well hes not a physician , hes a GP. Thats a stupid Americanism

He may not be a GP, but in NZ he’s a doctor…just as people are lawyers, not attorneys.

Duker: “Notice that Reti couldnt put up his private members bill while English was leader”.

From the article: “Reti spent last summer in the US talking to officials in states that have legalised the drug for medicinal use. On return, he drafted a private members’ bill that appeared fairly practical and capable of controlling the standard and distribution of cannabis in medicinal forms.”

Reti lived and worked in US from 2007 till 2013 and part of his high school years were in idaho

‘He was head-hunted by the eminent Harvard Medical School, but Whangarei doctor Shane Reti says his feet remain firmly grounded in Northland and he’s returning home hoping to represent the district in Parliament.

After six years living in Boston, but returning every three months or so, Dr Reti is on his way home to seek the National Party nomination to replace Phil Heatley as MP in the 2014 general election.

Dr Reti said he was offered incentives by Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and Harvard Medical School to stay and carry on his important medical work, but the calling to come home for good was too strong.

“Harvard always knew I was just on loan and that at some stage I would go back. I’m a Whangarei boy and when the call came to come home (to seek the party’s nomination to stand in the seat) came, I knew it was time,” he said.’

his views on drugs didnt just come from a single US visit last summer

Love your ‘alternative facts’ but he didn’t draft his members bill until after a trip to the USA in summer and didn’t submit his bill until July 2018. Bill English resigned in Feb 2018. Your idea that English somehow stopped Reti putting forward his bill is rubbish.

Did anyone see him on 3 last night? Shifty doesn’t begin to describe it. I have never seen anything like it. He was like someone who’d never been on television before; eyes going everywhere, body language very revealing as he looked so uncomfortable, no eye contact (or very little) with the interviewer….his meanness in dropping Cohen in it is despicable.

Cohen , the tabloid publisher and ‘unknown person’ had a meeting to arrange the payments and to hide it from the election spending.
Trump was the ‘unknown person’ and hes suddenly realised the other 2 will testify

Unknown person ? What did he take people for? He’s either a liar or very slack about where his money goes.

I wanted a mince pie. Not a bloody mince and cheese pie. If it said mince and cheese pie, I wouldn’t have bought it. 😡

What idiot came up with this stupid idea that meat pies all have to have bloody cheese in them ! Does anybody know? o_O
