When is the PM Jacinda Aderns legal representatives going to ask [deleted] to prove that she and her partner are [deleted] Again today there is a libelous post implicating them as [deleted] and as its his blog hes responsable for libelous posts

[If it is a ‘libellous post’ then don’t repeat thw accusations here as they would make this site vulnerable to legal action. PG]

‘Paul Little: Grace Millane case highlights a terrible double standard’

Of the Flatbush murder victim a couple of days after Grace …

“Not for her any poems or vigils. No flowers at shrines or international media coverage. The Sky Tower wasn’t lit up to honour her in death. The Prime Minister didn’t say she was sorry and that she should have been safe here.

Ironically, Grace Millane, a property developer’s daughter from Britain, was much less like “Us” than “They” are.”

No sobbing PM and the rest for the young Indian man murdered by his partner, either. He should have been safe. His family will be just as devastated.

Or the boy killed in the hit and run by the young woman who found it hilarious and was given HD and community work.

The fact is that nobody who goes on Tinder dates is ‘safe’. NZ didn’t fail Grace, the killer did.

Was the PM asked for her comment on the Millane killing or did she press release it?

If the former then blame the media and their customers for the selectivity, not the PM.

Well … If the former, and if they don’t ask about the others, the media are simply displaying the same double-standard Alan …

I love it when the”right” fight
    Maggy Wassilieff
    Chuck Bird,
we discussed this a couple of days back.

It’s not our business whether the PM believes in prayer or not. She expressed her sympathy in words that are commonly used to convey such a sentiment.
    Let it go.
    Chucks on a loop,

She didn’t express sympathy for the young Indian man, who came to NZ for a better life and was murdered here.

But Kitty he wasn’t visiting. Body is on the way home and the perception that New Zealand is a risk have been deflected.

Hardly the point; he was from another country. He was murdered here by someone he trusted.

I suspect that had he been killed by a Tinder date, there wouldn’t have been the same mileage made and what can only be called using of someone, because he was a man. The emotive use of the Millane murder is sickening; she has become a symbol, used for people’s own agendas.

The more ‘advanced’ we become the more bizarre our behaviour.

In 2019 to be trendy I’ll be demanding that Ms Arden has a press conference about every person murdered in the country. That will please the public.
Highlighting individual cases in certain circumstances seems to suggest political significance and priority. Mentioning each and every one will make everyone happy.

Using that thinking my expectation is that no achieving scientist, sportsperson, artist, or business person will be mentioned by her unless she mentions all scientists, sportspeople artists and business people who achieve something.

As for murders, maybe a specific regular media time slot can be organised. How about a weekly Tuesday morning ‘Murder Press Conference with the PM.’ I’m sure those upset that she intruded so grievously into the recent situation would applaud that.

I hadn’t known how to describe my thoughts about the PM’s show of grief about Grace’s murder, until now. Thank you duperez.

      It is bizarre behaviour.

When awful things happen, some of us go numb. Some behave bizarrely. Some ignore. Sometimes violence escalates. Or silliness.

I don’t think the public outpouring of grief will change anything. There is an elephant in the room.

If anything, wouldn’t this tragic event cause parents everywhere to help their children know how to keep safe?

      May Grace’s family be comforted.

I think that’s a good idea. Followed by Seven Sharp devoting an entire 30 minutes to delving into and reporting on family background and schooling.

For me, it does not necessarily follow from Little’s commenting on a fairly obvious double standard involving selective acknowledgement and non-acknowledgement, that the suggested response is total universal acknowledgment …

I think he’s suggesting deeper responses to the double-standard …

Although … I have to wonder whether more frequent and diversified acknowledgment of death [and injury] by violence or traumatic accident would be such a bad thing?

Around here whenever I hear or speak a mihi, which I warrant is more often than many on YNZ do, the speaker always acknowledges the dead and usually names the most recent fatalities in our rohe …

If the PM really wanted to call attention to our dreadful statistics in numerous areas, a mention of the dead and injured could become part of the daily (or however frequent) press conference?

Acknowledging the issues and addressing the issues could be done … Which begs the question: Why aren’t they?

If people are killing each other and beating each other up the solution is for them not to do it and for others not to tolerate it.

I can’t be bothered scrolling through it all tbh robert. Just link me to any actual ideas and solutions somebody’s working on and where it’s been shown tit works, is practical scaled up to fit the way the world is and is being implemented or soon will be.
