Over the holiday period

Over the next few weeks there will be a lot less New Zealand politics to discuss, current politics at least, as most MPs take a break (most well earned).

I’ve actually been on holiday for nearly a week, sort of – family including three grandchildren are visiting from overseas, so it has been very busy – and enjoyable. Kids give you a reason to do things you you wouldn’t normally do. Yesterday climbing up and running or sliding down some steep and high sand. Been to two museums and have plenty more to see there.  Going to the pool and hydro sliding (the hydro slide at Moana Poll in Dunedin is quite old but is still excellent).

In the meantime there is still plenty of contributing comments here. That may quieten down for a while, but I’ll keep putting up at least some of the four daily general posts – I may reduce how many for a while depending on how things go.

I still get up fairly early through habit, and I like to give the visiting parents a bit of respite from the relentless morning onslaught of activity that they endure for most of the year.

So I’ll still post things, mostly daily (probably) depending on what I’m doing and what I feel like doing. I may take a break some tine and see how that goes. Or not.

Whatever you do over the holiday period have a good one, and if you keep contributing here then thanks, without you this hobby wouldn’t be worth doing.

I’m sure Trump will continue to lash out at all and sundry and that the US Circus will provide plenty of opportunities for the occasional comment or two here, for one thing.

My thanks too, for all your work, PG. If this is your hobby it’s an impressive one.

It’s ok. When it happens I just remember this wise advise from a famous old Yoda, & I just assume some have visited and wanted to let us know they were here.

Thanks to PG for mostly getting it right and Gezza for usually getting it wrong in the most entertaining way and to all our other combatants and non-combatants.

May you all have a great Xmas, enjoy the good folk around, avoid the arseholes and continue to enlighten the planet.

The way of ‘the news’ is so different already. It makes you realise that the news is dependent on politics. And politics is dependent on ‘the news.’

We’ll see ordinary stories of ordinary people doing ordinary and some extraordinary things. (Why did it take until now to see about the wonderful effort from some people in Cromwell to establish the hockey facility there which has untold human and whole community value?)

Aren’t you meant to be monitoring Aljaz? Has something happened with the Khassogi mini-series?

I’ll check them out at midnight before hitting the sack. I’ve been wondering if Erdogan’s letting Khashoggi fatigue set in & maybe he should front up with the actual recordings & any other evidence for everybody now.

The GCC had another meeting a couple of days ago and some of their vassal state lackeys were happily glad handing that asshole MBS who seems confident enuf to be showing his moosh in public again, even if only among other dodgy leaders from shit-hole countries in the region.

I think Erdy’s trying to get the UN to do an investigation because the Saudis are a brick wall, naturally. Whining about their reputation being trashed or something.

They’re a day behind us so this must be being show on aljaz today:

What’s the latest in the probe into the murder of Khashoggi?
Jamal Khashoggi’s murder made world headlines for weeks, but almost three months on, we are still waiting for answers.

The murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi shocked the world and drew international outrage.

World leaders demanded answers from Saudi Arabia, with Turkey leading the calls.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants 18 Saudi suspects extradited to Istanbul to stand trial.

And he’s determined to find out who gave the order to kill Khashoggi, believing it came from the highest levels of the Saudi government.

Erdogan says he’ll push for an international investigation, but as time goes by there are fears the case might be losing its momentum.
